Home and lifestyle Concept Store with a différence, Comptoir 102, opens its doors as a new alluring shopping destination One-of-a-kind concept store offers customers a selection of ultra-luxe goods in a refined and urban European atmosphere. Dubai, February 2013 – Comptoir 102, brainchild of friends Emmanuelle Sawko and Alexandra de Moutaudoin, both from Paris, opens its doors this month to an enticing mix of bohemian chic focusing on interior design, fashion accessories and food. Nestled in the heart of Jumeirah, one of UAE’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, this peaceful sanctuary showcases casual chic home décor, covering as the founders put it, “everything that speaks to them and creates an emotion”. Stylish UAE residents can now find a full range of decoration, fashion accessories, jewellery, art and anything that reflects the timeless –yet trendy- Parisian art de vivre. Comptoir 102 is supplemented with a tranquil organic coffee shop to offer a complete and very unique concept environment, a world apart from the generic mall experience. “Dubai has evolved as a vibrant city in the past few years, with an emerging street culture, a growing art scene and new trends. With it, a demand for urban-style home concept store, as you would find in cities such as Paris, New York or London”, analyse the founders. It is hoped that Comptoir 102 will embody the art of artful urban living through its aesthetically appealing and architecturally designed space, which is based around a traditional villa restructured to maximise light and include a wrap-around terrace and courtyard area. This concept store model therefore makes visitors feel instantly at home, allowing purchases from anything to everything the minute you set foot into the store; be it the plate food is served from, the striking wallpaper used as a backdrop or the comfortable sofas that cry out to be relaxed into. Customers can supplement their shopping experience with the finest freshly brewed coffee, house-blends of organic teas, fresh juices and a vibrant wholesome cuisine such as healthy salads and soups from the in store coffee shop. The focus will be on serving organic and locally sourced produce and this philosophy extends to the store’s vegetable patch, the fruits of which will be found on the menu each day. Both Emma and Alexandra are delighted to finally see the results from months of hard work and passion bought to life, commenting, “For us, luxury is not about ostentation or opulence, but simple yet exceptional pieces that reflect true-refinement. We seek well-established and passionate creators, who know how to combine tradition and modernity. Our vision is to create a community-meeting space that brings together timeless yet contemporary design, cultural events and reflects healthy living in a warm atmosphere. What sets Comptoir 102 apart is that it is very personal to us; we haven’t sourced anything that we wouldn’t buy ourselves and we hope it strongly reflects our tastes. We are hoping to put Comptoir 102 firmly on the city’s map for the UAE’s taste-makers.”
