Lifeguarding job is the most challenging and exciting job among different aquatic positions. Lifeguards are responsible for protecting swimmers and let them enjoy water activities. Especially, in the United States, where booming water-centric lifestyle has increased the demand and necessity of lifeguards.

It is seen that some pool owners tend to hire pool monitors in spite of lifeguards.

However, their duties are just to watch broken glass or other hazards and keep the facility safe. They are not required to respond in an emergency. However, lifeguards are responsible for everybody’s safety in and around water.

This helps them to notice any danger or emergency and so they can respond it immediately. Drowning occurs silently so that’s why they have to be keen observer to protect swimmers.

Perform Rescue Operations: Firms who provide lifeguard services, it is important for them to ensure that lifeguards have all necessary certifications and are informed what is expected when they are on duty. This helps them to perform efficiently in emergency situations.

Drowning is a risk whenever you are near water even trained swimmers can also have a medical emergency in the water. That’s why lifeguards are required to stay alert at all times to recognize the danger and perform rescue operations immediately.

Knowing about the First Aid: Lifeguards have learned lifesaving skills including first aid and CPR. They use these skills to handle minor and major accidents. From cuts and burns to drowning and heart attacks, lifeguards are often the first responder in a poolside or beach emergency.

Ensuring Safe Environment: Their first job is to check and ensure the facility is safe. This helps them to prevent injuries and keep swimmers safe throughout the day.

Upgrading Skills: They are not only bound to work by the pool during duty hours. They also spend their time in classroom setting for honing the skills which already they have and learning new once. This helps them to be prepared for handling emergency situation.
