Celebrity Judge: Katie Stam Irk, Miss America 2009 UNM is excited to announce that Katie Stam Irk, Miss America 2009, will serve as head judge for the 2015 national finals in Disney World. This marks the second year in a row that a former Miss America has served as a national judge! Katie Stam Irk was crowned the first Miss America from the state of Indiana in the pageant’s 88-year history. Since passing on the title of Miss America 2009, Katie has continued to travel the country on her national speaking tour as an advocate, spokeswoman, host, author, branding professional, and performer. USA National Miss is honored to welcome Katie to our 2015 National Finals Competition! FUN FACT: Our national royalty will have had a private dinner event with TWO Miss Americas by the end of their reign this summer. #OnlyatUNM

Preparing the Class of 2015 USA National Miss will be welcoming our national delegates to our 2015 Nationals Prep Forum in North Carolina next month. This event is a new and unique perk being presented as a way to assist our delegates as they prepare for the glamour, excitement and fun of UNM Nationals 2015. The event will feature topics related to nationals, expectations of new royalty, and an overview of the runway and interview requirements. Forum will allow the national delegates to meet some of our current and former national royalty, while having their questions answered in a face-toface setting with the national director and staff. Delegates will also spend time with fellow state queens while making a national appearance at Langtree Lake Norman to promote our official charity, “Spread the Word to End the Word” in support of the Special Olympics. Delegates will be collecting signatures to “End the Word” while signing autographs.
Emily Zawodny Miss Ohio Preteen Emily Zawodny is a 12-year-old 7th grader from Perrysburg, Ohio. When not at dance rehearsals or cheerleading practice, she likes to relax with her dog, Butter. Emily loves musical theatre and has been in Annie, Sound of Music, Thoroughly Modern Millie, MusicMan, and Seussical. Emily has enjoyed competing in pageants since the age of seven and says the best part is the wonderful friendships she has made with girls across the United States. Emily is counting down the days until UNM Nationals in Orlando!
