That’s something you don’t hear every day… UNM awarded over $300,000.00 in cash scholarships, full ride college scholarships, and prizes during nationals 2015. That’s something you don’t hear every day! In 2015, four deserving young woman walked away from nationals with full ride four year academic scholarships to Troy University in Alabama. Through our partnership with Troy University, UNM will continue to

award full ride college scholarships this year to deserving delegates who meet the academic criteria. We are hoping to give even more women the gift of a college education. Need more reasons to love UNM? As an official certifying organization of the Presidential Volunteer Service Organization, UNM will be providing ALL national delegates with the opportunity to receive

this prestigious award at nationals for their volunteer service throughout the year. Help us STOMP Out Bullying UNM Selects Cyber Bullying as 2016 National Platform The 2015 USA National Miss national royalty have selected STOMP Out Bullying as our national platform for 2016, with eradicating Cyber Bullying as one of the main focuses of the initiative. Led by the passion of USA National Teen, Caroline Dixon, who has been the victim of cyber bullying, the queens will lead the national delegates all year long in various initiatives, awareness campaigns, and pledges to STOMP out bullying. The first initiative will be the Wear Blue Day on Oct. 5, in support of the World Day of Bullying Prevention. In addition, we will be partnering with The Crown C.A.R.E.S. to provide our national queens and national delegates with the entire curriculum of The Crown C.A.R.E.S. for free! This anti-bullying program includes resources for our state queens to take the anti-bullying message to classrooms all across America. The UNM Maine state director, Deb Landry, is the author of The Crown C.A.R.E.S. and has made this program available to all UNM ladies. Join us in the fight to STOMP out bullying!

In what has become an exclusive tradition, the USA National Miss national royalty had the incredible opportunity to meet the Miss America who helped them capture the UNM crown. Katie Stam Irk, Miss America 2009, was the head judge at nationals this summer, and led a panel of judges who ultimately picked the Super Six to be queen. During the royalty’s trip to Miss America this month, the queens got the once-in-alifetime opportunity to sit down and have dinner with Katie Stam Irk. Katie talked to the queens about life, being Miss America, understanding how faith plays a role in your life, and pressing on in the midst of adversity. We aren’t talking a brief photo opp… Katie spent over two hours with our national royalty and they took in every second. It’s not every day you get to have a private dinner with a Miss America, and bask in

the wisdom of someone everyone looks up to. Yet this isn’t the first time that UNM national royalty have had this type of exclusive opportunity. The 2013 and 2014

Lexi just started second grade at Sara Harp Minter in Georgia. She has received the “Radical Writer” award for her creative writings and is also a two-time poetry recitation winner. In addition to pageants, Lexi also loves to swim, play soccer, play with her two sisters, make new friends, go shopping, and climb on everything. She has her own community service project called Lexi Loves Littles. She decorates journals for the families at Piedmont Fayette NICU. This is something she’s recently started and would love to see it grow. She truly loves others and will do anything she can to brighten someone’s day.
