BASICS for USC Students
Balancing Alcohol and Substances to Improve College Success
Explore your drinking behaviors and learn about reducing alcohol-related risk in a confidential, non-judgmental setting.
The BASICS program uses a harm-reduction approach designed to help students explore their alcohol use in a non-judgmental setting; reduce risky behavior and harmful consequences of alcohol abuse; identify changes that could help students reduce risk; and provide important information and skills for risk-reduction. The BASICS program consists of two one-hour sessions; all sessions are completely confidential. The BASICS model is recognized as an evidence-based program by the National Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Cannabis Screening and Brief Intervention for College Students (CASICS) is also available to USC students for exploring marijuana use.
