THE “SIX-CREDIT” THRESHOLD

All USC students who enroll in 6 credits or more will automatically have insurance added to their fall semester bill.

Benefits-eligible USC employees who are also enrolled as students are typically eligible to waive insurance and use their employee benefits health insurance plan. If you are taking just one course in any semester, you typically will not see the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP/Aetna) added to your bill. If you start taking two courses or more, the SHIP charge will appear automatically, and you should complete an insurance waiver. The deadline for completing a request for a waiver for fall 2022 is September 9, 2022. The deadline is the Friday of the third week of classes and must be completed annually. https://studenthealth.usc.edu/waiver-requirements/
