GUIDE FOR TEAM TRAVEL Medical Evaluations and Treatment Needs
Athletic
Student-athletes
• Athletic Medicine care is 100% available to student-athletes.
• If a medical issue arises, contact Athletic Medicine (medical providers, nursing, or athletic trainers) immediately.
• Treatment can continue within the Athletic Medicine network.
NON-ELIGIBLE
Family members or friends (non-USC employees) traveling with the teams are not eligible for medical evaluation or treatment.
• Be prepared to visit a local urgent care for evaluation and treatment.
• Have your insurance card and number of your primary care health provider available (or patient portal app) — often sending a secure message to your provider is the fastest way of getting personal support for your health care question.
USC Employees
(Coaches and travel team staff):
Athletic Medicine health care providers can answer general questions on health, however, health care evaluation and treatment are limited to the following:
• Athletic Medicine care during team travel is limited to evaluation and treatment of urgent health conditions which require immediate treatment.
• You may be referred to a local medical facility if needed to best treat your symptoms.
• Your medical history documents must be on file for good faith support.
• Always be prepared to contact your medical provider(s) for follow-up health care evaluation and treatment.
• For employee team members on USC PPO and EPO health insurance plans, the USC Premier Care service for coordination is available to you: 833-SC-NURSE
