Sexual Citizens SPACE Toolkit Work Group
Sexual assault Prevention and Community Equity
During the 22-23 academic year a working group comprised of students and key administrative offices (Student Health, Student Affairs, EEO-TIX, Administrative Operations, Real Estate, Provost Office, Housing Events Planning) worked in tandem with the Well-being Collective to look at the geography of power imbalances in student social interactions How do built environment and equity issues influence spaces available for consensual social engagement? Who has access to these spaces? Can the university improve access to "neutral" late night spaces? After reviewing Student Wellbing Index survey data on equity and inclusion among students and conducting feedback sessions with current students the following specific recommendations are in the implementation stages
Phase 1: Late Night at Traditions
Traditions on the UPC campus, planned for 7-day-a-week operations until midnight for AY 23-24 is exploring staffing to provide even later evening access on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the fall/spring semesters Tentative planning is for weekend night opening until 2 AM
Phase 2: Late Night Coffeehouse
In the space formerly occupied by Lemonade (second floor RTCC), Student Affairs and Administrative Operations will engage in replacing the venue with a late-night retail operation at the heart of the campus center
