Summer Reading Challenge Coming soon to Bedford Borough Libraries…the Wild World Heroes Summer Reading Challenge 2021! This year the fun takes place in Wilderville. It’s a pretty cool place but our heroes who live there have been noticing some problems. Helped by their trusted animal companions, they’re ready to take action to save the natural world! Wild World Heroes Summer Reading Challenge starts on Saturday 10th July and finishes on Saturday 11th September. Children taking part can collect transformational stickers to add to a fold-out map of Wilderville. Each sticker will fix the environmental problems in each area and make Wilderville a better home for everyone! Children can also collect rewards for reading and taking part.
How the Challenge works • Children sign up at their local library and receive a Wild World Heroes collector poster. • Children borrow and read at least six library books of their choice during the summer, collecting special stickers to complete their poster plus extra incentives along the way. They can choose the books they want to read; story books, fact books, poetry, joke books – as long as they are library books all reading counts! • Library staff and volunteers are on hand to talk to children about the books they have read*.
