Where did you grow up?

I have lived in Newark my entire life.

What was your favourite lesson at school?

Woodwork was my favourite lesson at school, getting to design and make various items.

What was your first job?

A draughtsman at a local company.

How did Newark Paint & Hardware come about?

There was an opportunity within my career to open my own shop doing what I enjoy and providing a service to local people and supporting independent tradesmen.

How much has your business changed since you first started it?

The business has grown over the last 9 years with moving to a bigger more central location in the town centre where we have been able to expand our product lines and cre c ate a shop that you can find everything under u one roof. The continued support of

our regular customers has allowed us to welcome new customers who are able to find exactly what they need.

What is the best piece of business advice you have ever received?

Work hard and you can achieve.

If you ever eat out locally where is your favourite place to go?

I am partial to a good curry and within Newark we have a wealth of good restaurants and takeaways.

Describe your perfect weekend.

An ideal weekend for me is watching the football and having a good Sunday roast and spending time with family.

Do you do all your own handyman jobs at home?

I do the basic DIY jobs around the house but if a job requires the right tradesman then I don’t hesitate in calling in the local qualified labour force.

What future plans do you have for Newark Paint & Hardware?

We hope to reach out and welcome new customers and hope to expand our product lines and continue to provide a good independent service to the community.
