A LETTER FROM CEO: 5 CHALLENGES THAT WILL NEVER LEAVE HRS ALONE
Dear HRs Congratulations for converting the interview and finally being selected as the most promising HR of the company. By this time you might have received the induction session as well understanding the company’s business. Let us make you aware why HR is the most important job in a company and what challenges you are going to face in your career when it comes to handling HR. 1. The big lies from Candidates To get the job, candidates can go to any extend. Lying in resume is like any days activity. At first look you must be able to recognise if the profile is genuine or crap. Even at the time of interview most of the candidates do not hesitate to lie about their past experience, qualifications and much more. Make sure you have collected and verified each document presented by the candidate. 2. Very generic and boring cover letter Life is too short to read boring cover letters. But as the flow of applications starts to increase, reading them is going to be your daily routine. Now you may take it in two directions, reject the application and increase efforts on searching more; or get connected with such candidates and try to train them on how they can write an acceptable cover letter. 3. Candidates never come on time or even no show Late arrival of candidates will always be the point of worry for you. But the worst of all would be the ‘no show’ after confirmation. When all the arrangements are done for the interview process, interviewers have dedicated their busy schedule to you, and candidates might ditch you at the last moment. To save yourself from coming under bad lights, make sure you are well networked with the candidates and keep yourself updated on their activities.
4. Dealing with weird candidates If ‘no show’ was a big challenge, than dealing with weirdos is much worse. You might come across candidates who just woke up from their bed and walked in straight for the interview. Adding to the awkwardness list is candidates wearing too much makeup, no formal attire, and then giving lame excuses. This might turn more heartbreaking, when candidates ask questions that does not relate to this company or job. Take this as your responsibility to pass them knowledge about the company and its business; and guide them on ideal interview appearances. 5. People might hate you the most When you call the candidates to appear for the interview, it gives them a light of hope. But once rejected you could be the biggest villain of all times. Even a Google search for ‘Recruiters are’ ends with options like – useless, stupid and evil. It is essential to be reasonable with the candidates every time you call them for a rejection information. But make sure to call them back first for the next opening we might come up with. These candidates know better about our company so conversion could be effective.
