WHAT JOB SEEKERS ARE SAYING ABOUT YOUR HIRING PROCESS? December 1, 2015 Mukul Agarwal

Since ages, this question has been looping in the minds of business owners and HR managers as to how job seekers are looking at their company after they appear for a recruitment process. Based on the survey conducted by Jobvite, Applicant Tracking System brings to you a direct insight from the job seekers and what they look for while accepting or rejecting a job offer.

1. Slow application process time Nearly 73% of job seekers have experienced a lag in time while waiting for a response from recruiters. Most of the candidates rely on application process experience, to decide whether to accept the company’s offer or not. This might happen when recruiters are missing important analytics in hiring process. Organisations need to make sure that the right tool and efficient person is hired for recruitment process to move things in right direction.

2. Mismatched Communication 43% of job seekers confirmed that there was a mismatch in the actual position and the job ad given by the companies. To make it worse, candidates added that almost 30% of company’s representatives are unaware of the job position they are co-ordinating for. Organisations need to make sure that their representatives have full knowledge about not only the positions they are handling but about all the positions currently live in the hiring process. For more efficiency, all stakeholders should be involved in the initial meetings of hiring processes.

3. Lack of Brand Appeal Nearly 46% of job seekers agreed that brand name and value play a big role in their decisions to apply for jobs in any company. Close to 50% of job seekers have denied to apply for a company which is not considered as a cool brand. It is need of the hour that that companies should focus on creating a brand which attracts the job seekers. The parameters could be brand value in the market, how employees talk about their employer and even how other job seekers talk about the companies they have appeared for the interview process.

4. No Video Interviews According to the survey data, 66% of candidates prefer video interviews (as part of initial interview rounds), however their appeal was turned down by the companies in the past. Only 60% of the companies are able to incorporate video interview process in their internal rounds. Video interviews have many benefits compared to personnel interviews like saving time and money for both employer as well as candidate. The techsavvy candidates are even learning tips for effective video interviews.

5. No follow-ups or updates Nearly 80% of the job seekers have not received any update or information for the job applied or the interview process they have appeared for. Most of the job seekers have complained about no or delay in response even after repeated follow-ups. Such crucial mistakes can easily frustrate any applicant and enough to create negative impression about the company. Situation for recruiters can become out of control if competitors are able to grab these candidates early. Nearly 70% of the candidates are ready to join a company even for lesser salary, if that employer is able to leave a positive impression during the hiring process. Hopefully Applicant Tracking System (the free cloud based recruitment tracking software) is able to bring some crucial factors to help organisations attract the best available talent.
