Correction An Industry Action item in the June 2012 issue of ADDvantage incorrectly stated that Angel Lopez, a USPTA Master Professional, served as president of the Barrio Station from 1970-2010. It was actually Carlos Quintana who held that position. Lopez received the Carlos Quintana President Award from Barrio Station, a nonprofit youth organization in the Barrio Logan area of San Diego. We regret this error. ADDvantage/July 2012

Industry action National Junior Tennis and Learning program, the Houston Tennis Association offers free tennis instruction to local youth throughout the greater Houston area. In support of this mission, Tennis Express is launching the Express Yourself Racquet Giveaway. Local 10-andunders will receive a free junior racquet (a $20 value) in exchange for their art, reading, or writing submission to the NJTL’s annual summer contest. Players 11 and up will receive
a free T-shirt and a can of balls. Through this community outreach program, Tennis Express hopes to encourage the young Houstonians to start playing tennis at an early age. Arthur Ashe founded NJTL in 1969 “as a way to reach young people in the inner cities “so we can teach them about matters more important than tennis.” With Ashe’s vision in mind, the HTA has 37 NJTL sites throughout the area and reaches approximately 6,000 Houston youth.
