USCIS Certified Translation The USCIS, or the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, has a standing policy for accepting all foreign documents with a certified translation. This translation package has been detailed by the office of USCIS as follows; “when documentation is produced by the petitioner or applicant in favor of his or her submission, the document package must include a complete translation of the original text into the English language. The translator of the original text should provide a certificate stating that this is indeed the precise and thorough translation of the original text and is his or her responsibility as an attestation of competence.” These documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates and all other documents that may not be in English but are required to complete the supporting documents of one’s USCIS application. A detailed description of the certified translation is as follows: Format The document has to be translated incompletion and has to be a literal translation. It will include stamps, dashes, and signatures just as they are in the original document. While translating an illegible portion, the translator has to write ‘not legible’ in the exact same place in the translation. It needs to have the exact same visual format as the original text and marks such as seals etc, have to be n the same exact spot. Accuracy Accuracy is paramount in translating an official and governmental document. It is extremely necessary to ensure that translations that are submitted are as close to the original text in verbatim as possible. This requirement has to be kept in mind. Notarization
