Admission Requirements
FIRST-TIME FRESHMEN
• 3.0 GPA and 19 ACT or SAT equivalent OR 2.7 GPA and 21 ACT or SAT equivalent.
• UT Martin uses the super-scoring method of combining test scores into a new composite score.
• Any student who does not meet regular admission requirements will be reviewed for conditional admission. Spots are limited, so apply early.
TEST-FLEXIBLE ADMISSION FOR FALL 2022
UT Martin will offer test-flexible admission for students applying for the fall of 2022. As ACT/SAT-scheduled tests are being canceled because of the coronavirus, UT Martin will accept applications based on a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and courses taken. Students are encouraged to submit an ACT or SAT score prior to enrollment at UT Martin for scholarships and class placement but can be admitted without a score.
TRANSFER STUDENTS
• Students who have completed 12 hours of college-level courses must have a 2.0 college GPA to be admitted.
UT MARTIN REGIONAL CENTERS
Freshman students can also enroll in classes at our regional centers located in Parsons, Ripley, Selmer and Somerville. Transfer students are eligible to enroll at all regional centers including a location at Jackson State Community College.

Soar in Four Program Scholarship Aviator
UT Martin wants you to Soar in Four by taking 15 credit hours per semester to complete your undergraduate degree in four years. We have many services in place to help you soar, including a top-notch Office of Career Planning and Development, student success counselors you will meet during your freshman year, plenty of course offerings, online degree-planning tools to help track your progress toward graduation, living-learning communities, and readily available tutoring and advising services.
UT Martin is one of the most affordable public institutions in Tennessee.

All tuition and fees estimated based on 2021-22 costs. Students residing outside of Tennessee are considered out-of-state, except residents of Fulton, Graves and Hickman counties in Kentucky.
To apply for financial aid, including grants, loans, work-study and the Tennessee HOPE scholarship (for Tennessee residents), you’ll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. The FASFA is available beginning Oct. 1, 2021, for the 2022-23 school year.
When filling out the FAFSA, you will be asked to enter school codes. UT Martin’s school code is 003531. By including our school code, you are indicating you want UT Martin to process your FAFSA for eligible awards once you are admitted.
There are many different types of financial aid available, and you can read more about all of these at utm.edu/financialaid. The website also includes a net price calculator, which will help you make an early estimate of your total annual cost of attending UT Martin.
• Scholarship Aviator is a one-stop site for donorfunded and departmental UT Martin scholarships and has hundreds of opportunities available for new and continuing students.

• University Scholars is the premier UT Martin Honors program for up to 30 incoming first-year students.
• Qualifying students receive $2,500 per year in addition to their Chancellor’s Scholarship award of $3,000 per year for a total of $22,000 for four years.

VOYAGER OUT-OF-STATE SCHOLARSHIP
• Qualifying students receive $5,000 per year for up to four years.
• First-time freshmen must have at least a 20 ACT and 3.0 GPA. Transfer students must have a minimum 2.0 college GPA with 12 transfer hours.
• This scholarship can be combined with the UT Martin Deans Scholarship, if eligible.
• Students must be full-time and remain in good academic standing.
• The priority admissions deadline with automatic consideration is Feb. 1, 2021.

Merit-based scholarships start at a 3.0 GPA* and a 20 ACT** or SAT equivalent and are awarded as funds are available. Priority consideration is given to students who apply for admission prior to Feb. 1. Students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships when applying for admission. Chancellor’s Scholarship recipients are eligible for a travel-study stipend of $2,500 to apply toward a universityapproved travel experience while enrolled at UT Martin. Chancellor ’s Scholarship recipients who are not Tennessee residents will have the out-of-state portion of their tuition waived in addition to receiving the scholarship award.
The Deans Scholarship can be combined with the Voyager Out-of-State Scholarship for students who qualify. The Excellence and Achieve Scholarships are for Tennessee residents only.

• Freshmen and sophomores receive $3,500 per year, and juniors and seniors receive $4,500 per year as long as continuation requirements are met.
• The FAFSA is the application for the HOPE scholarship.

ALUMNI VALEDICTORIAN RECOGNITION AWARD
• Qualifying students receive a one-year award with a $1,000 stipend.
• A minimum 23 ACT score is required.

• Students will be notified of this award with an offer letter.
UT PROMISE
• Tennessee residents who meet UT Martin admission requirements qualify for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship and have an annual household income of less than $50,000 are eligible to receive funds from the UT Promise financial aid program.
• This is a last-dollar scholarship that will be applied after all other financial aid is received, including, but not limited to, Pell Grants, HOPE Scholarship and other institutional scholarships.
• Participating students will be matched with a volunteer mentor and must complete eight hours of service each semester to remain in the program.
• This program applies to both tuition and mandatory fees. Housing, meal plans and other post-secondary expenses are not included.

Housing and Residential Life
We make sure campus living is a positive experience. The UT Martin Office of Housing provides a fully-trained staff of residence hall directors and resident assistants who tend to the needs of residents through social activities, competitions and intramural sports.
Housing Reminders
• First-year freshmen are required to live on campus unless commuting from the home of parents or legal guardians in the Tennessee counties of Weakley, Obion, Gibson, Carroll or Henry or the Kentucky counties of Fulton, Hickman and Graves.
• Students enrolled with fewer than 45 completed credit hours before the first day of fall classes are required to sign an academic year lease and live in on-campus residence halls. Once a student completes 45 credit hours, signing an additional academic year lease is not required after completing current lease obligations. Some exemptions apply.

• UTM’s Department of Public Safety patrols the campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
• Students can request an officer escort any time at 731-881-7777.
• All students, faculty and staff can participate in UTM RAVE Alerts – an emergency textmessaging system.
• The LiveSafe App is available on the main campus to share emergency and non-emergency information with the UT Martin Department of Public Safety.
• All residence halls are staffed with Resident Assistants (RAs). RAs provide information about activities, events, policies and also assist students with roommate conflicts, homesickness and academic concerns. RAs are trained to respond to a variety of issues to assist students or act as a referral resource.
• The Residence Life staff takes extra precautions to ensure the safety and security of residents through cameras, swipe card access, fire safety equipment, staff emergency response training and 24-hour desk operations.

The City of Martin
The city of Martin features a revitalized historic downtown business district that includes two coffee shops, restaurants, shopping and nightlife. A new $10 million state-of-the-art public library opened in 2021 in downtown Martin. The traditional college-town setting and related amenities offer a perfect environment for students who attend the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Martin is perfectly located where you and your friends can take a break from studies and road trip to nearby Reelfoot Lake, Kentucky Lake or Land Between the Lakes recreational areas. Union City, located west of Martin, offers additional shopping, restaurant choices and Discovery Park of America. Martin is centrally located between Memphis and Nashville and is just an hour’s drive from Jackson and Paducah, Kentucky.

• Martin is home to the Award-Winning, Tennessee Soybean Festival. The Tennessee Soybean Festival is an annual Labor Day week event celebrating our agricultural history and roots with many community events. • Eight Skyhawk athletic programs have captured a total of 33 OVC team championships, 26 of which have come since 2006.
• UT Martin Athletics set a new departmental record with a 3.29 cumulative Grade Point Average for the Spring 2021 semester, which was the third consecutive term that the Skyhawks had recorded their best academic semester in school history.

Intramural Sports
The intramural sports program is a great way for students, faculty and staff to get involved, compete and develop friendships.
Men’s, women’s and co-ed leagues are available in all team sports. Leagues are structured within each division to accommodate different skill levels. Activities consist of individual, dual and team sports including flag football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball and more.
