THE NCAA REGIONALS... Lady Vols On A Roll

• With their selection to the 2012 NCAA Central Regional, the Lady Vols make their 20th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. Tennessee has been selected to the field each year since the women’s golf program began in 1992-93. • The Big Orange has an average regional placement of 7.3 with a best placement of first (2006 East Regional) and a worst finish of 18th (2003 Central Regional).

• Tennessee has advanced from the NCAA Regional to the NCAA Championship in each of the last three seasons and seven out of the last eight years. • The Lady Vols have finished within the top three at the NCAA Regionals in their last three appearances with a third place showing in 2009 and a pair of runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2011. • Lady Vol junior Erica Popson claimed medalist honors in last season’s NCAA West Regional.

Centrally Speaking

• This is only the third appearance in the Central Regional for Tennessee. The Lady Vols advanced from the Central Region once in their first two appearances. • UT first played in the NCAA Central Regional in 2003, ending the season with an 18th-place finish in the field of 21. The Orange and White fared better in a second trip to the Central Regional in 2006, tabbing a seventh-place finish to advance to the NCAA Championship. • Tennessee has won two NCAA Regional tournaments -- one out of the West Regional (2005) and one out of the East Regional (2006). The Lady Vols have never earned a regional title out of the Central Region.

Against the Field

• UT has compiled a 26-16-1 record against the 2012 Central Regional field this season, seeing 15 of the 24 teams already in 2011-12. • The Lady Vols have a 622-321-8 record all-time against this year’s regional field. The 2012 Regional will mark the first time Tennessee will face Butler and Siena.

TENNESSEE SUCCESS... Two Spring Tournament Wins

• Tennessee won two of its last three regular season tournaments, claiming the LSU Tiger Golf Classic, coming in third at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic and coming out on top at the Bryan National Collegiate to wrap up the slate. • The Lady Vols posted a 39-2 record in their last three tournaments before heading to the conference championship. • Popson finished the Tiger Classic in a tie for first place and led the Lady Vols at Bryan National with a tied-for-third placement. Freshman AJ Newell led UT in Hawai’i, posting a tied-for-fourth finish at the Anuenue Classic.

National Team Selections

BY THE NUMBERS

• Tennessee boasts two players selected to represent their respective countries on the 2011-12 squad: juniors Erica Popson (United States) and Sara Monberg (Denmark). • Monberg will represent Denmark as a member of the Danish National Team while Popson was named one of eight members of the Curtis Cup team that will compete in Scotland in June.
