The All-Time Series Versus Auburn... Tennessee holds a 23-17 all-time advantage in its series with the Auburn Tigers, is 13-6 versus AU in Knoxville and has won the last seven home meetings in the series dating back to March 18, 2006. In all, UT has won 10 of the last 13 contests between the two squads overall, although the margins of victory have often been razor-thin. Seven of the last 11 games have been decided by a single run and three have required extra innings. Included was a 2-1 (11 inn.) victory by Tennessee on April 11, 2009, during the Tigers’ last visit to Lee Stadium. Two Outs Just Means Its Time to Produce Two outs in an inning...that just means its time to do some serious damage if you’re Tennessee. The Lady Vols have registered 91 two-out RBIs this season and currently lead the SEC in two-out batting average at .336 overall. UT recently demonstrated its prowess by plating a pair of two-out runs during the bottom of the seventh inning of the series finale against South Carolina to erase a one-run deficit in a 5-4 victory. Got Talent on the UT Bench! Tennessee currently leads the SEC in total pinch hits with 12 this season in 36 at-bats (.333 average) and remarkably four of those dozen hits are HR’s! Freshmen Melissa Davin and Tory Lewis currently lead the squad with three pinch hits each, while sophomore Whitney Hammond has two. Davin and freshman Chelsea O’Connor recently demonstrated their pinch-hitting prowess as O’Connor blasted a pinch-hit, walk-off HR to down South Carolina 4-2 (8 inn.) in the two teams’ series opener (3/25), while Davin had a clutch, two-out pinch hit RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to dead-lock the series finale (3/27) against the Gamecocks at 4-4. In fact eight of Tennessee’s 12 total pinch hits this season have been recorded by freshmen (Davin and Lewis - 3, O’Connor and Ashley Holmes - 1) that were a part of ESPN/RISE’s toprated recruiting class for 2010. An Unprecedented RBI Binge for Dotson... No Tennessee Lady Vol in 16 seasons of program history has ever had as many RBIs as sophomore Kat Dotson does at this point in the 2011 season.
