UT is 10-3-1 all-time against Alabama. Tennessee is 4-3 against the Crimson Tide in matches played in Tuscaloosa. ¢ Sept. 14, 2012, in Knoxville, Tenn. Tennessee 2, Alabama 1 OT: Hannah Wilkinson scored the equalizer in the 17th minute on a breakaway. Kylie Bono scored on a deflection off the keeper in the 97th minute. ¢ Sept. 30, 2011, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Alabama 1, Tennessee 0: Pia Rijsdijk scored on a bad clearance with a one touch to the near post from the top of the box.
SHUTOUT SECOND-HALF DEFENSE
Tennessee has allowed just five goals this season, all coming in the first half. Over 10 matches and 490 second-half and overtime minutes, UT has held its opponents scoreless.
TENACIOUS D ON FRIDAY
Julie Eckel made spectacular save after spectacular save Friday night as UT battled back for a 1-1 tie at LSU. Eckel tallied eight saves on the night and enjoyed incredible support from a multitude of UT defenders. Allie Sirna won one-on-one battles up the middle with LSU forwards and Brittney Wade and Megan Erskine helped shut down many Tiger attacks. Caroline Capocaccia knocked a ball away from an open net and with under a minute left, Michele Christy headed away a shot on an open net just inches from entering the goal. Sirna, Erskine and Eckel played the full 110 minutes.
¢ The Crimson Tide has been outscored, 20-9, so far this season and four of its losses are by two or more goals. ¢ Alabama’s three wins have come at home. UA beat Georgia State, 2-1, in overtime on Aug. 30 and edged UAB, 1-0, on Sept. 15. ¢ Friday’s win over Vandy marked the first time this season someone other than Merel Van Dongen scored a goal for Alabama. Pia Rijsdijk and Laura Lee Smith each scored two goals and Theresa Diederich also scored. ¢ Emily Rusk and Shelby Church have both seen time in goal this year. Rusk is 3-4 with 40 saves and a 2.08 GAA. Church is 0-2 with seven saves and a 2.52 GAA. ¢ The first half has been problematic for the Crimson Tide. Opponents have outscored Alabama, 12-3, before halftime. ¢ Alabama has been able to create opportunities in opposing territory with 48 corner kicks to 40 for opponents.
SEC ROAD OPENERS
With the tie against LSU on Friday, Tennessee is now 7-9-2 all-time in SEC road openers.
IN SEC PLAY
Caroline Brown has scored 10 of her 23 career goals and tallied eight of her 17 career assists in SEC regularseason play. Julie Eckel is 17-7-2 all-time in SEC play with 113 saves and a 0.85 GAA.
SIRNA’S STREAK OF GOING WIRE TO WIRE
Allie Sirna was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week for the second time this season on Sept. 24. She played the full 110 minutes against LSU on Friday and is the only UT player to play the full 940 minutes of the 2013 season to date. She has played complete matches in 21 consecutive matches, dating back to last season. The last time she did not play the full match was on Sept. 23, 2012, when she played 66 minutes in UT’s 6-0 rout at Mississippi State.

UT will next host Ole Miss on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. The first 750 fans in attendance at Regal Soccer Stadium will receive a free Tennessee Soccer flag.
