THE OPPONENTS LONG BEACH STATE Long Beach State is 4-4 this season. The 49ers are batting .277 as a team and their pitchers have combined for a 7.33 ERA. In 2012, Long Beach State went 29-25 and finished first in the Big West with a 16-5 league record. The team played in the Tempe Regional of the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated by Syracuse. The 49ers’ main offensive catalysts this year are Briana Stephan (.478 BA, four doubles, one triple, three RBIs, seven runs), Hannah De Gaetano (.385 BA, two homers, two doubles, 10 RBIs, seven runs) and Karili Sandoval (.316 BA, four homers, 11 RBIs, six runs).
CAL STATE FULLERTON Cal State Fullerton is 3-6 on the season. The Titans are batting .202 and their pitchers have combined for a 2.78 ERA. The Titans went 20-31 in 2012 and finished sixth in the Big West with an 8-13 league record. Cal State Fullerton’s top hitter is Ariel Tsuchiyama, who leads the team with a .400 batting average, a homer, a triple and seven RBIs. Jasmine Antunez (.300 BA, one homer, three RBIs) is the only other Titan hitting .300 or better.

Anna Edwards (.375 BA, two homers, two triples four doubles, 10 RBI) has been NU’s biggest slugger so far this season. Andrea DiPrima (.524 BA, three doubles, two RBI, two runs) has been efficient at the plate. Marisa Bast (.303 BA, two homers, seven RBIs) and Mari Majam (.303 BA, six RBIs) have also been run producers.
NO. 16/13 UCLA No. 16/13 UCLA is 8-1 on the season and batting .350 as a team. The Bruins’ pitchers have combined for a 2.04 ERA. In 2012, the Bruins went 36-20 and tied for fourth in the Pac-12 with a 12-12 league mark. They were eliminated by Florida State in their NCAA Regional hosted at Easton Stadium UCLA boasts a deadly lineup with six batters hitting .368 or better this year. In 2012, UCSB went 30-28 and finished second in the Big West with a 15-6 league mark. The Gauchos have five batters hitting .333 or better Keilani Jennings leads the team with a .438 batting average, four homers, three doubles and 13 RBIs.
