The Southeastern Conference Slate Gets Underway at #23 Kentucky No. 7 Tennessee is headed back out on the road to Lexington, Ky. to christen its 15th season of Southeastern Conference softball by facing #23 Kentucky over March 11-13. The Lady Vols enter this weekend’s action on a season-high 11-game winning streak and hold a 30-9 advantage in the all-time series with UK. The Big Orange is 14-5 against the ‘Cats in Lexington and 10-1 at the UK Softball Complex since the arrival of Co-Head Coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly to helm the Tennessee program prior to the 2002 season. The Lady Vols had won 10 consecutive road tilts over Kentucky until the Wildcats posted a 6-5, walk-off victory in the second game of a doubleheader during UT’s last visit to “The Commonwealth” on April 8, 2009. Getting Off to a Good League Start is Important The Big Orange enter this weekend’s SEC lidlifter at Kentucky with an 9-5 all-time mark in conference-opening contests. During its 2010 league opener, UT rallied past Mississippi State, 8-4, in Starkville, Miss., on March 9. The Lady Vols spotted the Bulldogs a 3-0, first-inning advantage before a fourth-inning RBI double from Raven Chavanne (3-for-4, two runs), three total RBIs from Kat Dotson (3-for-4, triple) and a two-run HR in the sixth by Jessica Spigner (2-for-2) helped UT rally past MSU. Road Warriors! The Lady Vols probably should change their team name to “The Road Warriors” considering what they’ve done thus far this season. Since leaving on Feb. 11th to play in the Stetson Leadoff Classic in DeLand, Fla., through the end of its upcoming trip to battle Kentucky and Tennessee State, THE BIG ORANGE WILL HAVE BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR 20 OF THE FIRST 33 DAYS OF THE 2011 SEASON. During that time UT will also have played 25 games over those 33 days, 26 contests if you count its exhibition victory over the Dutch National Team. We’re Going Streaking!!!! Tennessee enters this weekend’s action at Kentucky on a SEASON-BEST 11-GAME
