THE STORYLINES ROAD SWING
• Tennessee will conclude a three-match road swing Saturday at Central Florida. The Lady Vols played their first true road matches of the season last weekend, winning at Indiana (5-2) and Ohio State (4-3).
LATEST ITA RANKINGS (FEB. 22)
• Tennessee remained the 10th-ranked team in the nation in the latest Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings, released Wednesday. • The Lady Vols jumped up seven spots and were originally ranked 10th in the prior rankings, released Feb. 16. It marked UT’s highest ranking since the Lady Vols were 10th on Feb. 18, 2010. • On Feb. 16, UT became the only school with three tandems in the Top 25 of doubles, led by No. 2 Brynn Boren and Sarah Toti, while three Lady Vols are ranked in the Top 40 of singles. Check out the rankings on the top right of the second page.
y SCORING SYSTEM
SCOUTING UCF
• Saturday marks the third all-time meeting between Tennessee and UCF, with the Lady Vols owning a 2-0 series advantage. UT served shutouts in both meetings (9-0 in 1982 and 7-0 in 2009). The latter get-together was the schools’ lone meeting in Orlando. • UCF boasts a 3-6 record, after a 5-0 loss against in-state rival USF on Wednesday.
LAST WEEKEND
• Tennessee traveled to Big Ten country, picking up a pair of wins at Indiana (5-2) and No. 64 Ohio State (4-3) without senior Natalie Pluskota, who was slowed by a foot injury. UT’s top half of the lineup combined for a 6-0 record. • Tennessee led 5-0 against IU and 4-0 vs. OSU before the final scores.
New to the college game? All that matters is which team gets to four points first. In dual matches, teams first play a best-of-three doubles competition. Whichever team wins two of the three matches earns one point. Teams then play six singles matches, each worth one point. The team that takes four of the seven total available points wins the match. (Note: Doubles matches are eight-game pro sets. Singles matches are best-of-three sets.)
