• SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Nov. 18 that he was suspending UT head coach Bruce Pearl for the first eight games of SEC play this season. It is, in effect, an eight-day suspension, as Pearl is prohibited from participating in any team activities during the days of those eight contests. • Sixth-year associate head coach Tony Jones is serving as head coach during Pearl’s suspension. • For NCAA official records purposes, UT’s results during the suspension will be credited to Pearl. • Since Tennessee is not practicing at Stegeman Coliseum on Monday evening, Bruce Pearl is not making the trip to Athens with the Vols. • Four Vols hail from the state of Georgia: Trae Golden (Powder Springs), Kenny Hall (Stone Mountain), Jordan McRae (Midway) and Cameron Tatum (Lithonia, Ga.). Tennessee signee Kevin Ware, also is a Georgia native (Conyers). • Junior shooting guard Scotty Hopson has scored at least 15 points in each of UT’s last seven games. • True freshman forward Tobias Harris has five double-doubles this season, including four in UT’s last six games. He ranks eighth in the SEC in both scoring and rebounding. • According to Jerry Palm’s CollegeRPI.com, Tennessee has the No. 1-rated strength of schedule in the nation. • The Vols already have defeated three ranked opponents this season, toppling No. 7 Villanova in New York City on Nov. 26, No. 3 Pitt in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11 and No. 21 Memphis in Knoxville on Jan. 5. All three contests were won in convincing fashion, as Tennessee led for a total of 114:30 in the three games combined (trailed for only 5:30 of game time). • Tennessee’s average home attendance this season stands at 18,156. The Vols have ranked fourth nationally in average home attendance for each of the past four seasons. • The Vols won the 2010 NIT Season Tip-Off Championship in November at Madison Square Garden.
