• This is the lone game in a current nine-game stretch for Tennessee that head coach Bruce Pearl can attend, as SEC Commissioner Mike Slive has suspended Pearl for the first eight games of SEC play this season. Since this is a non-conference game for the Vols, Pearl is permitted to coach. • The Volunteers under Bruce Pearl are 9-9 against teams in the top 10 of the AP poll. In its last seven such games, Tennessee has five wins. See Page 2 for another interesting top-10 note. • Since the 2005-06 season, the SEC has 21 non-conference wins over AP top-10 opponents. Tennessee accounts for six—or 29 percent—of those victories (and five have come on the road). • The Vols already have defeated three ranked opponents this season, toppling No. 7 Villanova in New York City on Nov. 26, No. 3 Pitt in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11 and No. 21 Memphis in Knoxville on Jan. 5. All three contests were won in convincing fashion, as Tennessee led for a total of 114:30 in the three games combined (trailing for only 5:30 of game time). • Vols center Brian Williams and Huskies guard Kemba Walker both hail from the Bronx, N.Y. The two have known each other for several years and have faced one another on the AAU and summer circuit. • Huskies freshman Michael Bradley was a McDonald’s All-America nominee last spring at Tyner Academy in Chattanooga, Tenn. • Junior shooting guard Scotty Hopson has scored at least 15 points in each of UT’s last eight games. • Scotty Hopson (11.4 ppg; five games) and Cameron Tatum (10.5 ppg; six games) each average double figures against Big East opponents. • True freshman forward Tobias Harris has five double-doubles this season, including four in UT’s last seven games. He averages 11.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg against Big East teams this season. • Tennessee’s average home attendance this season stands at 18,156. The Vols have ranked fourth nationally in average home attendance for each of the past four seasons.
