• SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Nov. 18 that he was suspending UT head coach Bruce Pearl for the first eight games of SEC play this season. It is, in effect, an eight-day suspension, as Pearl is prohibited from participating in any team activities during the days of those eight contests. • Sixth-year associate head coach Tony Jones is serving as head coach during Pearl’s suspension. • For NCAA official records purposes, UT’s results during the suspension will be credited to Pearl. • Ohio State and San Diego State are the only two remaining Division I unbeatens. For both schools, their last loss came against Tennessee (in last year’s NCAA Tournament). • In three career games vs. LSU, Brian Williams averages 5.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. • Junior shooting guard Scotty Hopson has scored at least 13 points in each of UT’s last nine games. • True freshman forward Tobias Harris has five double-doubles this season, including four in UT’s last eight games. • Wednesday’s contest marks the 100th game of John Fields’ college career. Including interim and acting head coaches, Tony Jones is the sixth coach that Fields has played under during his career (Ricky Stokes, Mack McCarthy, Benny Moss, Brooks Lee, Bruce Pearl and Tony Jones). • Tennessee’s average home attendance this season stands at 18,156. The Vols have ranked fourth nationally in average home attendance for each of the past four seasons. • The Vols have defeated three ranked opponents this season, toppling No. 7 Villanova in New York City on Nov. 26, No. 3 Pitt in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11 and No. 21 Memphis in Knoxville on Jan. 5. All three contests were won in convincing fashion, as Tennessee led for a total of 114:30 in the three games combined (trailing for only 5:30 of game time). • Since the 2005-06 season, the SEC has 21 non-conference wins over AP top-10 opponents. Tennessee accounts for six—or 29 percent—of those victories (and five have come on the road).
