• Sixth-year associate head coach Tony Jones is serving as acting head coach during Bruce Pearl’s eight-game SEC suspension. The Vols are 5-2 through the first seven games of the suspension. • Tennessee is riding a five-game SEC win streak during which it has a +11.4 scoring margin. • The Vols are in the midst of a six-day stretch in which they will play three games—including two on the road. Tennessee won easily at Auburn Thursday and plays at Kentucky on Tuesday. • UT has only been outscored in the paint twice this season (Dec. 23 win over Belmont; Jan. 8 loss at Arkansas). Alabama has yet to be outscored in the paint this season. • UT boasts the nation’s No. 1 “strength of schedule.” See Page 2 for a few reasons why. • Junior shooting guard Scotty Hopson missed a game for the first time in his career Thursday at Auburn. The All-SEC candidate is recovering from a lateral sprain to his left ankle suffered Tuesday. • Freshman All-America candidate and reigning SEC Freshman of the Week Tobias Harris has six double-doubles this season. Among SEC players, only MSU’s Kodi Augustus has more this season (7). • Tennessee has six wins over teams in the top 50 of the most recent NCAA RPI (Pittsburgh, Villanova, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Georgia, Missouri State). • Tennessee’s average home attendance this season stands at 18,220. The Vols have ranked fourth nationally in average home attendance for each of the past four seasons. • The Vols have defeated three ranked opponents this season, toppling No. 7 Villanova in New York City on Nov. 26, No. 3 Pitt in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11 and No. 21 Memphis in Knoxville on Jan. 5. All three contests were won in convincing fashion, as Tennessee led for a total of 114:30 in the three games combined (trailing for only 5:30 of game time). • Tennessee recently announced plans to retire Allan Houston’s (1990-93) No. 20 in a halftime ceremony before the March 6 game against Kentucky at Thompson-Boling Arena.
