• Tennessee has won each of its last eight meetings with South Carolina and is 9-2 against the Gamecocks during the Pearl era. • In SEC play, UT’s scoring defense is nearly seven points better on the road than at home (60.4 to 67.0). • Under head coach Bruce Pearl, the Vols have never failed to reach the 20-win mark or make the NCAA Tournament. A berth in this year’s tournament would be UT’s sixth straight—a school record. • UT boasts the nation’s No. 1 strength of schedule (RPIratings.com). See Page 3 for a few reasons why. • Tennessee has seven wins over teams in the top 50 of the most recent NCAA RPI (Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt [2x], Villanova, , Memphis, Georgia, Missouri State), and more than half of UT’s wins have come against top-100 RPI teams (11). • Junior All-SEC candidate Scotty Hopson ranks 26th on Tennessee’s career scoring list with 1,237 points. He has scored 20 or more points in six SEC games and averages 19.4 ppg in league play. • Freshman All-America candidate Tobias Harris has eight double-doubles. Among all freshmen in the six “major” conferences, he ranks third in rebounding (7.6) and tied for fourth in scoring (14.3). • SEC Sixth Man of the Year candidate Brian Williams shoots .432 from the floor and averages 5.8 ppg at home this season, but the senior center shoots .648 and averages 8.7 points on the road. • Former Tennessee and NBA great Dale Ellis (1980-83) was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Macon, Ga, last Saturday. Ellis is a native of Marietta, Ga. • UT will retire Louisville, Ky., native Allan Houston’s (1990-93) No. 20 during a halftime ceremony before Sunday’s Kentucky game at Thompson-Boling Arena. Sunday also is Senior Day on Rocky Top. • Tennessee’s average home attendance this season stands at 18,791. That ranks fifth nationally behind Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville and North Carolina.
