• Tennessee’s 7-0 start is the best start during the Bruce Pearl era. Tennessee has already beaten a pair of top-10 opponents on the road this season, and the Vols led for 34:30 in those two games combined. To see where the Vols’ seven-game win streak ranks among Pearl-era streaks, see Page 3. • The Volunteers are one of only 14 remaining teams in Division I and the only unbeaten SEC team. • Tennessee is in the midst of a 13-day stretch in which it will play five games. • Saturday’s victory over third-ranked Pitt in Pittsburgh was Bruce Pearl’s 450th career win as a head coach. Now in his sixth season on Rocky Top, Pearl owns a 133-46 (.743) record with the Vols. • The Pitt win also marked just the second time under Jamie Dixon that the Panthers lost to a nonconference team in the city of Pittsburgh. The Panthers entered the game 10-0. • Junior shooting guard Scotty Hopson earned his second SEC Player of the Week award of the season after shooting 10-for-13 against the Panthers and scoring a career-high 27 points. • Bruce Pearl has gone head-to-head against Oakland head coach Greg Kampe once previously. While at Division II Southern Indiana, Pearl led the Screaming Eagles to a 92-68 home win over Kampe’s Grizzlies on Nov. 21, 1997 (OU also was a Division II member institution at the time). • Located in Rochester, Mich., Oakland University is about a 30-minute drive north of UT associate head coach Tony Jones’ hometown of Detroit. • Tennessee leads the SEC and ranks 15th nationally in field-goal percentage defense (.368). • The Volunteers won the 2010 NIT Season Tip-Off Championship last month at Madison Square Garden in New York City. After outstanding performances in wins over VCU and seventh-ranked Villanova, Tobias Harris was named to the All-Tournament Team and Scotty Hopson was voted the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Tennessee is just the second SEC team ever to win the prestigious NIT Season Tip-Off championship in the world’s most famous arena (Florida, 1987).
