• Tennessee shot 53 percent and out-rebounded Belmont 40-24 in a win over the Bruins last month. • Thursday’s game concludes a 13-day stretch in which Tennessee plays five games (1-3 thus far). • The Belmont game also marks the second contest of a five-game holiday homestand for the Vols. • Tennessee is on a three-game losing skid, which is its first since January of 2007. That month, the Vols lost consecutive road games at Vanderbilt, Ohio State and Auburn. Tennessee has never lost four straight games during the Pearl era. • Senior center Brian Williams has been one of the Vols’ top performers during the current three-game skid, averaging close to a double-double (10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds). • In two career games against Belmont, Scotty Hopson has averaged 14.0 points, while Brian Williams has averaged 5.5 points and 6.0 rebounds. • The Vols are shooting .451 from the field at home this season. Tobias Harris averages a team-best 16.7 points at Thompson-Boling Arena while shooting .548 from the field. • The Vols have won their last six home games against non-conference opponents from the state of Tennessee. • The Vols already have defeated a pair of top-10 opponents this season, toppling No. 7 Villanova in New York City on Nov. 26 and No. 3 Pitt in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11. Both contests were won in convincing fashion, as Tennessee led for a total of 34:30 in the two games combined. • UT’s Dec. 11 victory over third-ranked Pitt in Pittsburgh was Bruce Pearl’s 450th career win as a head coach. Now in his sixth season on Rocky Top, Pearl owns a 133-48 (.735) record with the Vols. • The Volunteers won the 2010 NIT Season Tip-Off Championship last month at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tennessee is just the second SEC team ever to win the prestigious NIT Season Tip-Off championship in the world’s most famous arena (Florida, 1987).
