UTsports.com /// @Vol_Hoops key contributor and is capable of scoring in bunches; he had a 33-point outburst vs. Chattanooga last season ... In an interesting scheduling note, UNC Greensboro plays only 12 home games this season (at Greensboro Coliseum). The UNC Greensboro Series The Vols and Spartans have met just once previously on the hardwood, with Tennessee posting a 92-60 home victory on Dec. 22, 1998 ... The game took place 13 days before UT’s 23-16 football BCS national championship win over Florida State in the 1999 Fiesta Bowl ... The Vols are 71-8 all-time against current members of the Southern Conference ... In Cuonzo Martin’s only previous game as a head coach against a SoCon opponent, he led Missouri State to a win over The Citadel. Fancher, Kilmartin Spent Time In The SoCon Tennessee Director of Basketball Operations Houston Fancher was a head coach in the Southern Conference for nine seasons from 200109, leading Appalachian State to 137 wins and three North Division championships (2003, 2007, 2008) ... First-year Vols guard Ryan Kilmartin, a native of Charlotte, N.C., also has ties to Appalachian State ... Kilmartin spent the previous two seasons as Mountaineer, redshirting during the 2009-10 campaign ... Kilmartin’s father, Sean, and his uncle, Mike Helms, both played basketball at Appy State in the early 1980s. Veteran’s Day Important To Vols With the Vols’ regular-season opener against UNC Greensboro taking place on Veteran’s Day, here’s a look at a few members of the Tennessee basketball family whose immediate family members or grandparents have served in the military: • Jordan McRae: His sister, Kristen, serves in the Air Force and is currently stationed in Japan. • Josh Richardson: His mother, Alice, retired from the Air Force reserves after 25 years of service. • Tracy Webster: Has two brothers who served in the Army. Troy was stationed in Germany, and Vincent served in Korea. • Jon Harris: His father, Robert, served in the Army, stationed in Alaska. And both his uncle, William Harris, and his father-in-law, Keith Bowman, fought in Vietnam. • Kent Williams: His grandfather, Marvin Williams, served in the Navy. • Houston Fancher: His father, Eugene, served in the Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany. Fancher’s older brother, Terry, also served in the Army and, ironically, was stationed in Germany. • Marco Harris: His father, Norman Stevens, served in the Army and fought in Vietnam. On This Date: Nov. 11 Tennessee has never previously played a regularseason game on Nov. 11 ... Only twice in program history have the Vols played a regular-season contest prior to Nov. 11—Nov. 9, 2007, against Temple (an 80-63 UT win) and Nov. 10, 2006, against Middle Tennessee (an 83-52 UT win).

UTsports.com /// @Vol_Hoops Television Presence Strong Once Again Tennessee is scheduled to play 14 games on national television this season (on CBS and the ESPN family of networks) ... Another 15 contests will be telecast regionally on networks such as Fox Sports Net and the SEC Network ... That means 29 of Tennessee’s 31 regular-season game will be televised. Notes From The Weight Room Strength and conditioning coach Troy Wills on which Vols have made noticeable strides in the weight room: “Wes Washpun is one of the most athletic kids we’ve had in a while. He’s got a 41-inch vertical and recorded a time in the pro agility test that is comparable to a lot of the better defenders I’ve had an opportunity to work with in the past seven years.” ... “Trae Golden has put a concerted effort into his training, and the changes he’s made in his body and physical performance are evident. He’s lighter and stronger than he’s ever been, and he’s increased his vertical jump to higher than 35 inches, which is nearly three inches better than last year.” ... “Jeronne Maymon is by far our strongest player, with a bench press well over 300 pounds. Renaldo Woolridge is the most well-rounded athlete we have from a physical standpoint, being a top-three performer in every test. Specifically, he bench pressed 275 pounds, vertical jumps 38 inches and he ran the 3/4-court sprint in 3.03 seconds.” Numerous Degrees Within Reach According to team academic counselor Fernandez West, three current Vols are on pace to earn their degree in May ... Those players are Tyler Summitt (Communications, with a Business minor), Cameron Tatum (Africana Studies) and Renaldo Woolridge (Sociology) ... In the past three seasons alone, 12 Tennessee basketball players have earned their degrees.

Vols Part Of Loaded Maui Invitational Field The Vols will make their second all-time appearance at the newly expanded EA SPORTS Maui Invitational this season ... Along with the perennial tournament host school, Chaminade, the field includes Duke, Georgetown, Kansas, Memphis, Michigan, Tennessee and UCLA ... With expansion comes four additional Division I teams known as the “Mainland Teams.” ... Each of the eight Island Teams (excluding Chaminade) will play one game against a Mainland Team before traveling to Maui for the Championship Round ... The four Mainland Teams are Belmont, Middle Tennessee, UNC Greensboro and Towson ... Tennessee’s mainland opponent is UNC Greensboro (Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in Knoxville [FS South]) ... The Vols previously competed in the Maui Invitational in 2004, finishing fourth. ®

Martin Has History In Maui Cuonzo Martin has coaching experience at the Maui Invitational, as Purdue joined the field in 2006 ... The Boilermakers, with Martin on the bench just months before being promoted to associate head coach, fell to Georgia Tech before logging wins over Oklahoma and DePaul for a fifth-place finish ... It was during that year’s tournament that Martin’s son, Chase, celebrated his fifth birthday ... Now, in 2011, Chase Martin will celebrate his 10th birthday in Maui as well.

80 = The Tipping Point In his previous three seasons as a head coach, Cuonzo Martin’s teams are 11-0 when they score at least 80 points ... That’s not surprising given the emphasis Martin places on unrelenting defensive pressure, tenacity and technique. Summitt Rehabbing Wrist Injury Sophomore guard Tyler Summitt is the only player on Tennessee’s 17-man roster who is presently inactive ... The Knoxville, Tenn., native continues to rehab a left wrist injury ... Summitt underwent surgery on Aug. 24, and senior associate athletic trainer Chad Newman projects Summitt to return to full contact sometime this month ... Newman has kept Summitt in shape running steps, performing strength and flexibility exercises and doing limited dribbling and shooting work. Volunteers Boast The SEC’s Longest Active Streak Of NCAA Tournament Bids The Vols have the longest active NCAA Tournament streak in the Southeastern Conference, earning their sixth consecutive bid last season.

The Vols were presented with their official EA SPORTS Maui Invitational team surfboard during the Tennessee-Georgia football game at Neyland Stadium Oct. 8.

Hall shoots .563 for his career (71 of 126) ... More than half (36 of 71, .507) of Hall’s career field goals have been dunks; that’s as “high-percentage” as it gets. Prior to the team’s trip to China, it spent a week training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. During that time, Jenkins spoke highly of Martin’s coaching style ... “The way he coaches is very unique,” Jenkins said. “If you mess up, he will tell you what you did wrong and how to fix it. This helps us out a lot, and it’s been keeping us trying to get better because most coaches don’t do it that way. His style is unique and I like it a lot.” Miller, Murphy Serving As SAAC Reps Junior forwards Dwight Miller and Rob Murphy are the Tennessee basketball team’s representatives on UT’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee this year ... Prior to the 2007-08 season, UT added a basketball-only practice facility and began the first phase of renovations to ThompsonBoling Arena ... The $19 million first phase of renovations included the addition of 32 luxury suites that are located in the existing north balcony, a loge area just below the luxury suites that includes 166 side court seats, new seats for the entire arena, a $3 million center-hung scoreboard and concourse refurbishments, such as graphics and other amenities ... The Vols’ state-of-the-art basketball practice facility, Pratt Pavilion, houses two full-size gymnasiums, one for each of the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as an athletic training room, weight room and film-study room ... Prior to the 2010-11 season, a pedestrian bridge was constructed leading from the G-10 parking garage to the arena, an elevator was added at the arena’s northwest end as a customer service amenity and new exterior signage was installed on the building’s facade ... The UT athletics department renovated the men’s and women’s basketball offices at the arena during the 2010-11 campaign, creating a new and impressive “front door” for the basketball programs ... And new to Thompson-Boling Arena this year is a 360-degree LED ribbon board that runs along the bottom of the upper deck.

The UT men’s basketball program had never retired a jersey prior to the 2006-07 season, but after nearly 100 years of hardwood history, Bernard King (1975-77) was the first player to earn that distinguished honor ... King’s No. 53 jersey was officially retired during a halftime ceremony at the Feb. 13, 2007, home game against Kentucky (UT won 89-85) ... Then on March 2, 2008, Ernie Grunfeld (1974-77) became the second UT player to receive the ultimate honor, when his No. 22 jersey was unveiled in the rafters during halftime of Tennessee’s 63-60 victory over Kentucky ... Allan Houston (1990-93) became the third such honoree at March 6, 2011, game against Kentucky. The figures showed UT hoops with a value of $14.1 million and a profit of $8.6 million in 2009-10. Tennessee Stands Alone Tennessee is the only Division I school ever to rank in the top five nationally in attendance for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball in the same year ... SEASON/CAREER HIGHS

• Was UT’s top scorer off the bench in both exhibition games, averaging 8.5 ppg and shooting .417 from 3-point range (5 of 12). • His 44 games played make him the fourth-most experienced player on Tennessee’s roster (behind Tatum, Woolridge and Hall). • McBee has led the Vols in steals 11 times during his career. • Though he made it known he intended to pursue basketball, he was recruited as a quarterback out of high school. Carson-Newman (Div. II) offered a scholarship, and Middle Tennessee showed interest as well. • Sporting a new look this season, as he grew a moustache late this summer. He got the inspiration after seeing a 1980s-era photo of his father, Doug, with a moustache (it’s worth noting that Cuonzo Martin had a moustache when he played at Purdue in the 1990s). • This is his second season on scholarship; he competed as a preferred walk-on in 2009-10.
