A TENNESSEE WIN WOULD... Extend UT’s active home win streak to seven games Keep the Vols undefeated at Thompson-Boling Arena this season Make the Vols 5-0 in their current six-game homestand Make the Vols 22-4 at home under coach Cuonzo Martin Improve UT’s record to 48-38 (.558) all-time against current members of Conference USA
¢ This is the fifth contest of a six-game homestand for Tennessee that began Dec. 13 and stretches through Jan. 9. ¢ The Volunteers are a perfect 6-0 at home this season and own a 21-4 home record under second-year head coach Cuonzo Martin. ¢ In home games, UT owns a +13.2 ppg scoring margin and a +5.0 rebounding margin. ¢ This is Memphis’ first true road game. ¢ The last time these teams met in Knoxville, the Vols posted a 104-84 victory (1/5/11). ¢ This is the last game under the current contract between these programs. The teams have met annually since 2006, but this is the last game of the current contract. ¢ 381 miles of I-40 separate these schools. ¢ Martin used Twitter on Sunday night to call for an “orange out” for this game. ¢ These two rosters feature 12 players from the state, including seven players from Memphis. ¢ Vols forward Jarnell Stokes, a Memphis native, has never faced his hometown school. ¢ Stokes (14.0 ppg) and Memphis freshman Shaq Goodwin (12.4 ppg) were the second and thirdleading scorers, respectively, on last summer’s gold-medal-winning USA Basketball U18 National Team (FIBA Americas Championships in Brazil). ¢ Tennessee has yet to allow an opponent to reach the 70-point mark, and the Vols are allowing an average of just 56.3 ppg at home this season. Memphis has scored 70 or more points eight times this season and averages 74.0 ppg.
