Big Orange Slices... Some Quick Notes  Here are some quick notes to pay attention to with the Lady Vols entering the NCAA Super Regionals: --Tennessee has never failed to advance through NCAA Super Regionals in four previous visits to the round, winning at #4 Stanford back in 2005 (2-0, 6-0), topping #13 Michigan in 2006 (5-3, 1-5, 1-0), handling #12 Hawai’i in 2007 (9-0 in 5 inn., 6-9, 7-1) and advancing with a two-game sweep at #2 Michigan in 2010 (5-0, 4-3). UT holds an 8-2 all-time record in Super Regional play and is 4-2 in those match-ups played in Knoxville (#13 Michigan in 2006, #12 Hawai’i in 2007). --UT’s rally this past weekend to secure the title in the NCAA Knoxville Regional marked the first time in program history that the Lady Vols lost a game in regional play and still advanced. --Tennessee is 29-28 all-time against Georgia, having split a doubleheader in Knoxville back on April 4, 1-3 (11 inn.) and 2-1. The two programs have met in postseason play (SEC Tournament or NCAA) seven times with the Big Orange holding a 5-2 record in those contests. They have met just once previously in NCAA action, that occurring back at the 2010 WCWS with Tennessee winning 7-5. --Junior third baseman Raven Chavanne has reached base in each of her last 40 games, a career-best, and is on an 13-game hitting streak with at least two hits in nine of those eight contests. During that span the Thousand Oaks, Calif., native won USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week (5/1) and SEC Player of the Week (4/30) honors after hitting .833 (10-for-12) with six runs scored and five steals against Tennessee State and Ole Miss (three games). --Senior defensive sub Holly Baker has reached base in six straight plate appearances, going 4-for-4 with two walks since April 22 at South Carolina. Included over that stretch is her clutch solo HR to beat Auburn at the SEC Tournament back on May 10. --The Big Orange is 31-10 over 41 contests this season against a group of 22 teams that were chosen to the 2012 NCAA Tournament Field. --Tennessee has played 16 one-run contests in 2012, posting a 10-6 record in those match-ups. Among UT’s 11 defeats this year, only three have been by three runs or more (13-5 to #4 Cal on Feb. 10; 5-2 to #3 Florida on March 10 and 4-1 at Arkansas on March 17) with every other loss coming by just one or two tallies.
