NOTEWORTHY NOTES TENNESSEE VS. ALABAMA: 10-4-1

Tennessee is 6-0-1 all-time against Alabama in matches played in Knoxville. That lone tie was a 1-1 tie in 2008. Oct. 20, 2011: Alabama won, 1-0, in Tuscaloosa. Sept. 14, 2012: Tennessee defeated Alabama, 2-1, in double overtime in Knoxville. Hannah Wilkinson had the equalizer in the 17th minute. Kylie Bono scored the winner in the 97th minute on a deflection off the keeper. Sept. 20, 2013: Alabama won, 4-2, in Tuscaloosa. Amy Neal scored goals in the 54th and 63rd minutes in an effort to rally UT back from a 3-0 halftime deficit.

UT is 6-4-2 in SEC home contests under head coach Brian Pensky. Tennessee has won its first SEC home match in each of the last two seasons and the Volunteers are 15-3 all-time in SEC home openers. UT last lost an SEC home opener in 2011 against South Carolina, falling 2-1 in double OT on Sept. 23, 2011.

TENNESSEE VS. MISSISSIPPI STATE: 13-2-0

Tennessee has won its last six games against Mississippi State, a streak dating back to 2006. UT is 5-1-0 against MSU in Knoxville. Oct. 8, 2010: Tennessee won, 1-0, in double OT in Starkville. Oct. 9, 2011: Tennessee won, 2-0, in Knoxville. Sept. 23, 2012: Tennessee won, 6-0, in Starkville.

SANTORIO, FERGUSON SCORE 2ND GOALS

Juniors Gabby Santorio and Susan Ferguson scored the second goals of their careers in Sunday’s 3-0 win at ETSU. Santorio scored in the 36th minute, marking her first score since scoring in the 59th minute at Mississippi State on Sept. 23, 2012. Ferguson scored in the 77th minute, marking her first goal since she scored in the 38th minute of 2-0 win at Kennesaw State on Aug. 31, 2012.

NEWCOMERS MAKING AN IMPACT

Twelve UT newcomers have seen action this season. Sophomore transfer Anna McClung leads all newcomers with nine starts and freshman Carlyn Baldwin ranks first among newcomers and fourth on the team with 723 minutes played. Baldwin recorded the first assist and first point of her collegiate career on Sunday, serving up the assist on Amy Neal’s game-winner in the 15th minute. McClung currently ranks second on the team with six points off two goals and two assists.
