Chasing Some Personal Milestones Lady Vol Co-Head Coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly are within (or have already) reach of some impressive coaching milestones. Karen Weekly (now has 719 WINS) achieved the 700-win plateau in Cathedral City, Calif., with UT’s 4-1 win over #25 BYU, while her husband Ralph sits at 997 TRIUMPHS, just three from reaching a staggering total of 1,000 wins, meaning he could potentially hit the plateau this weekend at Ole Miss. The duo also currently possesses 496 VICTORIES at Tennessee in a 10-year coaching career. The All-Time Series Versus Ole Miss... Tennessee holds a 30-7 all-time lead in its series against Ole Miss, but has seen the Rebels pick up four wins in the last 10 meetings between the two squads. In the last visit to Oxford, Miss., over April 18-19, 2009, UT dropped the final two contests (1-4, 6-7) of a three-game series after taking the opener, 5-2. The Big Orange are just 12-6 all-time at the Ole Miss Softball Complex as six of UM’s seven all-time wins over the Lady Vols have occurred at its home facility. Some Interesting Statistics It’s always to see how stats develop during a softball season and 2011 is no different. Want proof of how important defense is to a team? Tennessee is 20-0 this season when making zero errors and just 11-6 otherwise. How about pitching? UT is 25-0 when limiting an opponent to two or fewer runs and just 6-6 when allowing three or more tallies. What about total hits? UT is 28-1 when out-hitting its opponent and just 3-5 when getting out-hit. The Big Orange also seem to enjoy playing under the lights (contests beginning at 6 p.m. or later) as the Lady Vols are a perfect 11-0 in night games this year. Unbeaten on the Tube in 2011! The Lady Vols seem to really enjoy playing on television thus far in 2011 as UT owns a perfect 4-0 record on the tube with wins over South Carolina (SportSouth), #22 Auburn (ESPNU) and #2 Georgia (CSS/ESPN3.com/two wins). Tennessee returns to the small screen this Sunday, April 10, at Ole Miss live on SportSouth.
