HISTORY

LOFTON TIE

A WIN WOULD...

Today’s game opens the exhibition portion of Tennessee’s 106th season of varsity men’s basketball.

Pikeville head coach Kelly Wells was UT All-American Chris Lofton’s high school coach for five seasons at Mason County HS in Maysville, Ky. Lofton, the SEC’s all-time 3-point king, played for Wells’ varsity squad from grades 8-12.

Give Tennessee a 10-game win streak in exhibition play.

Tyndall is Tennessee’s third head coach in the last decade. At 44-years-old, Tyndall is the youngest head men’s basketball coach in the SEC.

Wells and Lofton guided Mason County to a state title in 2003, and Lofton was named Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball as a senior in 2004.

Improve head coach Donnie Tyndall’s record in exhibition games to 14-1. Give Tennessee four-year seniors Brandon Lopez and Josh Richardson an unblemished 6-0 career record in exhibition games.
