EXHIBITION PLAY
A WIN WOULD...
The Veterans Classic marks the Volunteers’ second straight season-opener away from Knoxville. Tennessee opened last season at Xavier. Prior to that contest, the Big Orange had opened 13 straight seasons at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Josh Richardson was UT’s top scorer in exhibition play, averaging 14.5 ppg.
Be Tennessee’s 72nd all-time win over an AP top-15 team.
Entering its 106th season of varsity hoops, UT owns a 1,553986-2 (.612) all-time record. Donnie Tyndall is 3-5 as a DI head coach in season-openers.
Tennessee forced 16.5 turnovers per game but also turned it over an average of 13.5 times in its two exhibition outings. In its win over Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday, Tennessee converted 18 turnovers into 31 points.
Mark Tennessee’s first win over an AP top-15 team since the Vols beat No. 8 Florida Feb. 26, 2013, in Knoxville (64-58). Be Donnie Tyndall’s second career head coaching win over a team ranked in the AP top 25. Make Donnie Tyndall the 10th straight UT head coach to win his debut game with the Vols.

TENNESSEE BASKETBALL
BY THE NUMBERS
28
» During his two-year tenure at Southern Miss, Donnie Tyndall averaged 28 wins per season. The Golden Eagles won 27 games in 2012-13 and 29 games in 2013-14.
1
» That’s how many players on Tennessee’s roster have ever scored in double figures in an SEC game. Josh Richardson is the only Vol to have done so.
TEAM NOTES BRING OUT THAT ORANGE • Tennessee will play as the visiting team Friday and will wear its traditional orange road uniform.
I WILL • To honor Knoxville native Will McKamey, who passed away March 25 after collapsing while taking part in spring practice as a freshman running back on the Navy football team, the Tennessee players will wear white pregame shooting shirts with the words “I WILL” on the front and “McKamey 41” on the back. • The phrase “I WILL” has become a well-known way to memorialize McKamey at the U.S. Naval Academy. The football team’s helmets this season all bear “I WILL” decals. • On social media, users have shared their memories of McKamey by posting the hashtag #Iwill. • McKamey’s family attended Tennessee’s practice on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Afterwards, Donnie Tyndall presented each family member with an “I WILL” shirt, and Will’s father, Randy McKamey, addressed the team.
FAST BREAK Tennessee is one of only 13 programs in the nation to make at least four NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances in the last eight seasons.
“QUOTABLE” #0 Kevin Punter
“I couldn’t always get to the rim. So I had no choice but to just pull up. I started really working on that, the 12- to 15-footers. That’s when I started the one-dribble pull-up, stop on a dime, things like that.” Tennessee won the SEC Tournament in 1979 and 1982. He also led UT to the Sweet Sixteen in 1978. • DeVoe’s most well-known player at Tennessee was Dale Ellis (1979-83), who went on to become an NBA All-Star.
VOLS-VCU CONNECTIONS • UT junior Kevin Punter and VCU junior Melvin Johnson both hail from Bronx, N.Y., and played against each other in both high school and AAU ball. • Punter also played against Rams freshman Terry Larrier in high school, and the two are close friends. • Vols freshman Braxton Bonds (CPA in Nashville) and VCU sophomore JeQuan Lewis (Dickson County in Dickson) played high school ball against one another in Middle Tennessee. • VCU assistant coach Mike Morrell is a native of Elizabethton, Tenn., and played collegiately at Milligan College in Upper East Tennessee, where he scored more than 1,400 career points. Morrell is good friends with UT assistant coach Adam Howard.
LAST MEETING WITH VCU
ABOUT VCU • In their sixth season under head coach Shaka Smart, the Rams enter the year ranked No. 15 in the AP poll and No. 16 in the coaches’ poll. • VCU posted a 26-9 (12-4 A-10) record last season and made the program’s fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Rams advanced to the Final Four in 2011 and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament in both 2012 and 2013. • The Rams average 27.4 wins per year under Smart. • Tennessee leads its all-time series with VCU 4-0, dating to 1981. The most recent meeting saw the Vols post a 77-72 victory in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden in New York City Nov. 24, 2010. • VCU’s returning starter at point guard, Briante Weber, has been suspended for this game by Smart.
VOLS, MIDSHIPMEN SHARE COACHING CONNECTION • Former Tennessee head coach Don DeVoe, who guided the Vols from 1978-89 and owns the secondmost wins in program history (204), went on to serve as head coach at Navy from 1992-04. • DeVoe led the Midshipmen to a 182–155 record (including a 26–3 record against arch-rival Army) five Patriot League regular-season titles, three Patriot League tournament titles, and three NCAA Tournament appearances. He was named Patriot League Coach of the Year three times. • At Tennessee, DeVoe was a three-time SEC Coach of the Year while guiding the Vols to nine postseason appearances in 11 seasons at the helm. Under DeVoe,
• Tennessee defeated VCU 77-72 Nov. 24, 2010, in the semifinal round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden to advance to the championship game against seventh-ranked Villanova (which UT also won, 78-68). • Against VCU, the Vols were led by Scotty Hopson’s first career double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. • New York natives Brian Williams (nine points, 13 rebounds) and Tobias Harris (15 points) also starred against the Rams. • Tennessee owned the frontcourt against VCU, scoring 48 of its 77 points inside the paint compared to just 16 points in the paint for the Rams. • The Vols held VCU to 31 percent shooting from the floor, including just 24 percent in the first half. Meanwhile, UT shot 40 percent from the floor. • Using solid team defense, Tennessee held VCU point guard Joey Rodriguez, who averaged 18.3 points and 10.3 assists per game coming in, to just five points on 1-of-10 shooting and only two assists.
VOLS 3-0 WHEN SMART ON OPPOSITE BENCH • Tennessee is 3-0 when Shaka Smart is on the opposing bench. • In addition to UT’s win over Smart’s VCU squad in the semifinals of the 2010 NIT Season Tip-Off, the Vols also went 2-0 against Florida when Smart was an assistant coach on Billy Donovan’s staff during the 2008-09 season.
44
» At 44-years-old, Donnie Tyndall is the youngest head basketball coach in the SEC. Born June 14, 1970, he is 37 days younger than MSU’s Rick Ray.
DID
YOU KNOW? Tyndall is a Sneakerhead
Donnie Tyndall has a vast personal collection of close to 500 pairs of sneakers. “I’ve always been a shoe fanatic,” Tyndall said. “I remember my mom and dad would give me a hundred dollars the week before school started and I had to make that work for my clothes. So usually it was three pairs of jeans and three shirts. But one year, they gave me a hundred bucks and the brand-new Jordans came out like the day before and I spent all hundred bucks on those.”
DT Likes Gators?!
Ever since he was a kid, Donnie Tyndall has been fascinated by alligators. He particularly enjoyed watching TV shows about gators. When he was the head coach at Southern Miss, his family surprised him with an actual pet alligator. The gator’s name: Alley-oop. Tyndall eventually had to say goodbye to Alley-oop. The only gator folks in Knoxville approve of is fried gator!
UT Roster Boasts Potential Olympian
If Puerto Rico qualifies for the 2016 Olympics, Vols junior Derek Reese may be boarding a flight to Rio. Reese, whose grandparents, Anselmo and Irma Montañez, were born in Puerto Rico, is active in that country’s national program. He played for Puerto Rico’s Men’s National “B” Team at the 2013 FIBA Stankovic Continental Champions Cup in China.
Michiganders Abound at Tennessee
Each of Tennessee’s “big three” athletic programs prominently feature a Michigan native on the coaching staff. Donnie Tyndall is a native of Grand Rapids. Head football coach Butch Jones hails from Saugatuck. And longtime assistant women’s basketball coach Dean Lockwood is from Bay City.

TENNESSEE BASKETBALL ELLIS SANK VCU IN 1981 TOURNEY • Tennessee and NBA great Dale Ellis drilled a 15foot jumper to give the Vols a 58-56 overtime win over VCU in the NCAA Tournament March 15, 1981, in Charlotte. • Ellis’ shot was the only shot attempted in the entire overtime period. The Tennessee victory ended VCU’s 16-game win streak, which was the longest in the nation at that time. • UT fell to No. 1 seed Virginia four days later.
DEFENSIVE EXHIBITION NOTES • In Tennessee’s two exhibition outings, the Vols forced 16.5 turnovers per game (leading to 25.0 ppg) and forced two total shot-clock violations. • The Vols also drew two total charges and averaged 34 deflections in exhibition play.
VOLS PICKED 13th IN SEC • Tennessee was predicted to finish 13th in the 2015 SEC race in voting by a select panel of both SEC and national media members.
ROSTER BREAKDOWN • The Vols’ 2014-15 roster features 15 players (12 scholarship student-athletes) representing nine states. • There are four Vols who hail from the state of Tennessee, three from Georgia, and a pair of players are from Florida. Alabama, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Oklahoma and Texas also are represented. • Tennessee has three seniors, five juniors, two sophomores and five freshmen. • Eight Vols stand 6-5 or shorter, and seven players are 6-6 or taller.
FAST BREAK During his two years at Southern Miss, coach Donnie Tyndall led the Golden Eagles to 27 total wins away from home (away/neutral site).
FOUR SCHOLARSHIP RETURNEES, PROGRAM-RECORD EIGHT SCHOLARSHIP NEWCOMERS • Tennessee head coach Donnie Tyndall’s first season on Rocky Top signals the addition of eight scholarship newcomers, which marks the most in program history (previous high was seven). • The Vols return only four scholarship players: senior guard Josh Richardson, junior forward Armani Moore, junior forward Derek Reese and sophomore guard Robert Hubbs III. Hubbs appeared in only 12 games last season, as his debut campaign was cut short by a shoulder injury that required surgery. • Among SEC teams, Tennessee’s nine newcomers (includes one walk-on) ties Missouri for the most in the league. UT’s four returning lettermen tie Missouri and Texas A&M for fewest among SEC teams. • Richardson is the only returner who started any games last season (36), while Moore started 16 games as a freshman in 2012-13.
POINT GUARD STORYLINES • Tennessee embarks on the Donnie Tyndall era without the benefit of having a healthy, “true” point guard on its roster. • Senior wing Josh Richardson made his point guard debut as a Vol in UT’s exhibition games. Throughout much of the preseason, Richardson was expected to serve as the backup at the point, but Tyndall ulti-
mately decided that Richardson was the team’s best option at that critical position. • Junior-college transfer Kevin Punter, a career twoguard, spent much of the preseason learning the position for the first time. Punter likely will see some minutes at the point guard spot, as he made noticeable strides during his preseason “audition.” • Senior guard Brandon Lopez, a walk-on from Knoxville, is perhaps the most natural “true point guard” on the roster, but he suffered a torn ACL July 26 and underwent surgery Aug. 14. It is expected that he will miss the entire season. • At the time of his injury, Tyndall stated that Lopez was in the mix to earn the starting job. • Graduate transfer Ian Chiles, who joined the Vols this summer following an impressive career at IUPUI, also was being looked upon to shoulder a heavy load at the point, but Chiles has battled nagging injuries ever since enrolling at UT (hernia surgery, shoulder and foot injuries). • After not playing in UT’s first exhibition, Chiles made his debut as a Vol by playing eight minutes against Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday.
RICHARDSON READY FOR LEADERSHIP ROLE • After earning SEC All-Defensive Team honors as a junior last season, senior guard Josh Richardson is ready to replace departed starters Jeronne Maymon (Israel), Jordan McRae (Australia) and Jarnell Stokes (NBA) and assume the role of team leader. • Richardson is Tennessee’s returning leader in all but one individual statistical category (Derek Reese is the team’s top returning rebounder). • Richardson has started 68 of Tennessee’s last 69 games spanning the past two seasons. • During the 2013-14 regular season, Richardson averaged 9.5 ppg. But in Tennessee’s four NCAA Tournament games, he increased that average to 19.3 ppg.

RICHARDSON LOOKING TO JOIN 1,000-POINT CLUB
TYNDALL CHALLENGING WOODSON
• Senior guard Josh Richardson enters his final season on Rocky Top needing just 261 points to become the 47th all-time member of Tennessee’s 1,000-Point Club. • Richardson scored a career-high 381 points last season, and he totaled 261 as a sophomore starter in 2012-13. He appeared in all 34 games as a freshman in 2011-12, scoring 97 points.
RICHARDSON AMONG SEC’s ELITE • Josh Richardson is the only player in the SEC to rank among the league’s active career top-10 in each of the following statistical categories: points, rebounds, blocks, steals and assists. • Richardson ranks seventh in points (739), ninth in rebounds (296), fifth in blocks (72), seventh in steals (80) and ninth in assists (131). • Only one other SEC player manages to appear on even four of those five top-10 lists, and that is Alabama’s Levi Randolph (not on blocks list).
HUBBS HEALTHY HEADING INTO SOPHOMORE SEASON • Sophomore guard Robert Hubbs III enters the season with a clean bill of health after appearing in just 12 games as a true freshman last year (the first 12 games of the season). • Hubbs underwent season-ending surgery on his left shoulder Jan. 14, 2014, to address an injury dating to his senior year in high school. The Newbern, Tenn., native received full medical clearance this summer. • In his limited action last year, during which he wore a soft shoulder brace, Hubbs averaged 5.0 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting .281 from 3-point range.
CARMICHAEL’S MOTOR NEVER STOPS • True freshman forward Willie Carmichael III has drawn the praise of head coach Donnie Tyndall after an outstanding summer and fall. • A native of Apopka, Fla. (less than 20 miles north of Orlando), Carmichael has established a reputation as an eager learner whose motor never stops when he is on the court and a tenacious rebounder who collects boards even outside his area. • Tyndall has even gone on record stating that Carmichael, at this early stage in his career, reminds him of a young Kenneth Faried, who Tyndall coached at Morehead State. • Carmichael initially signed with Tyndall at Southern Miss before receiving his release and following Tyndall to Tennessee.
• Head coach Donnie Tyndall has not been bashful about stating his expectations for sophomore big man Dominic Woodson, who joined the Vols as a transfer from Memphis in August. • Woodson, who is now down to 274 pounds after enrolling at 308, has been challenged to achieve a weight of 270 before receiving any meaningful minutes in the Vols’ rotation.
STEALS PREVALENT IN TYNDALL’S SYSTEM • The aggressive, matchup-zone defensive system employed by UT head coach Donnie Tyndall led to both of his Southern Miss teams ranking among the Division I leaders in steals each of the past two seasons. • During the 2012-13 campaign, Southern Miss ranked fifth nationally with an average of 9.6 steals per game. And in 2013-14, Tyndall’s Conference USA championship team ranked 17th nationally with 8.2 steals per game. • To compare, last year’s Tennessee squad averaged just 5.2 steals per game.
TENNESSEE OWNS THIRD-MOST WINS IN SEC LAST FIVE YEARS • Dating to the beginning of the 2009-10 season, Tennessee has the third-highest win total among all programs in the SEC. That applies to overall wins as well as SEC wins.
(L to R) Rodney Woods, Bernard King and Ernie Grunfield were part of a prolific 1974-75 squad. With high-scoring teammates, Woods set the UT single-season record for total assists (227) and assists per game (8.73).
Highest-Scoring Team
The 2014-15 season marks the 40th anniversary of the highest-scoring team in school history. Head coach Ray Mears’ 1974-75 squad averaged 86.6 points per game (2,251 points in 26 games).
Highest Individual Scoring Average
It was also 40 years ago that a member of that team, Hall of Famer Bernard King, set the school record for single-season scoring average. The legendary Vol averaged 26.4 ppg – as a freshman.
Highest Individual Assists Average
That 1974-75 season was a good year to be a Tennessee point guard, and Rodney Woods capitalized. With weapons like Bernard King, Ernie Grunfeld and Mike Jackson flanking him, Woods, a senior, set the UT single-season record for total assists (227) and assists per game (8.73).

TYNDALL WANTS VOLS TO OVERACHIEVE
Highest-Scoring Debut by a Vol
In Bernard King’s college debut – the 40th anniversary of which takes place Nov. 30, 2014 – he dropped 42 points on Wisconsin-Milwaukee. That still stands as a record for most points in a Tennessee debut.
• First-year Tennessee head coach Donnie Tyndall has preached a mantra of “overachieving” to his 2014-15 squad, and he hopes the UT fan base will do its part to help give the Vols an edge. • Tyndall: “What I want to really try to get our fans to do this year is help us be the most overachieving team in college basketball. That’s going to be our goal. And I don’t want to say that to undersell our talent level or undersell our players, but we need to overachieve this year to have a good year, and our fans need to help us do that.”

UPCOMING SCHEDULING NOTES • During the week of Thanksgiving, Tennessee takes part in the eight-team Orlando Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World. The tournament field also includes Georgia Tech, Kansas, Marquette, Michigan State, Rhode Island, Rider and Santa Clara. • Tennessee hosts Kansas State Dec. 6 as part of the 2014 SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Volunteers have never previously faced K-State on the hardwood. Tennessee’s all-time record against current members of the Big 12 stands at 10-15. • Tennessee begins a two-year, home-and-home contract with Butler Dec. 14 in Knoxville. UT trails its alltime series with Butler 2-1, dating to 1958. Tennessee and Butler are two of only 13 programs in the nation to make at least four NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances in the last eight seasons. • With the launch of the SEC Network, the scheduling of midweek games has been adjusted. In addition to the traditional Tuesday night games on ESPN and ESPNU, there will also be two Tuesday games on the SEC Network. Wednesdays will feature two contests on the SEC Network, while Thursdays will highlight one game on either ESPN or ESPN2. • And after not playing in Knoxville last season for the first time since 1953, Kentucky returns to Rocky Top Feb. 17 for an ESPN “Super Tuesday” matchup. The Vols do not play at Rupp Arena this season, marking UT’s first hoops campaign without a trip to Lexington, Ky., since 1953. • Texas A&M handed the Big Orange a pair of heartbreaking, buzzer-beater losses last season. That series resumes Jan. 24 in Knoxville when the Aggies visit Thompson-Boling Arena. • Former UT coach Bruce Pearl (2005-11) returns to Thompson-Boling Arena as Auburn’s coach Jan. 31. • For the first time since 1964, Georgia does not visit Knoxville. The Bulldogs host Tennessee Feb. 7.

STRONGER HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT FAILS TO WORK HARD. Strength & Conditioing Notes
The Vols spent their summer working intensely with first-year strength and conditioning coach Todd Moyer, who tracked each player’s development throughout the summer. Junior forward Armani Moore finished the summer owning “team bests” in the 185-pound bench press (17 reps) and body-weight chin-ups (18 reps). Sophomore forward Dominic Woodson shared bench-press honors with Moore by also hoisting 17 reps. True freshman forward Willie Carmichael III showed the team’s biggest improvement in the bench press, increasing his max reps by 10 through the course of summer workouts. Carmichael also added a team-best 11.6 pounds of muscle over June and July. True freshman guard Detrick Mostella posted the team’s highest “standing” vertical jump, leaping 33 inches.
“QUOTABLE” #3 Robert Hubbs III
“It’s been a real focus for me.. Coach Tyndall wants me to use my athleticism to get on the boards. He’s turning me into a beast about going out there and finding the ball.”
TYNDALL, MOORE FINALLY TOGETHER • Junior forward Armani Moore signed with Tennessee in April 2012. But during his recruitment, he gave serious consideration to several schools. • One of the other programs recruiting Moore during his high school days was Morehead State and head coach Donnie Tyndall. • When Tyndall took the Tennessee job in April 2014, one returning Vol—Moore—was already familiar with Tyndall and assured his UT teammates that the Big Orange landed both a good man and a good coach.

Head Coach Donnie Tyndall on Armani Moore (Nov. 8) “Early on, I thought (Armani) was going to play almost exclusively at the four. As time has come along, some of these other post players are developing. Derek Reese is coming along, Jabari McGhee, Tariq [Owens] is making strides, so it pushes Armani back to his natural position, which is the three spot. (During our exhibitions), he played most of his minutes at the three, but he will certainly continue to play both positions.”
UT HAS BEATEN SEVERAL NBA STARS
“THE MANIMAL” IS A TYNDALL PUPIL
• Over the last eight years, several of the NBA’s elite stars who didn’t experience many losses during their college days have tasted defeat at the hands of the Volunteers.
• Kenneth Faried, one of the NBA’s biggest young stars, was recruited and coached by Donnie Tyndall at Morehead State. • This past summer, Faried—known as “The Manimal”—led the U.S. National Team to gold at the FIBA World Cup. • The Denver Nuggets signed Faried to a five-year, $60 million contract extension in October. • Faried’s impressive development under Tyndall shined most during the 2010-11 campaign, as he won his second consecutive OVC Player of the Year award, earned consensus All-American status and broke Tim Duncan’s career NCAA rebounding record before being selected 22nd overall by Denver in the 2011 NBA Draft.

FAST BREAK Tennessee has produced 45 all-time NBA Draft picks, including eight first-rounders. Two Vols were selected in the 2014 NBA Draft, as Jarnell Stokes was picked 35th, and Jordan McRae was taken 58th.
VOLS LOOKING TO START NEW STREAK OF TOP-10 ATTENDANCE • UT finished 12th nationally in average regularseason home attendance last year, snapping a streak of eight straight seasons finishing in the top six. • The Vols still managed to draw more than 15,000 fans to home games at Thompson-Boling Arena last year, averaging 15,475 in 17 home games. • Tennessee sold more than 12,000 season tickets for each of the last eight years and appears on track to do so again this season.
TWO VOLS TAKEN IN D-LEAGUE DRAFT • Former Vols forward Kenny Hall (2009-13) was selected by the Deleware 87ers in the fourth round of the NBA D-League Draft Nov. 1. Hall was the first player selected in the fourth round (55th overall). • Another former UT forward, Renaldo Woolridge (2008-12), was selected in the fourth round by the Grand Rapids Drive (59th overall).
UP NEXT: TEXAS SOUTHERN • Tennessee’s home-opener pits the Vols against Texas Southern Thursday, Nov. 20 (7 p.m. ET, FSN). • Now in their sixth season under head coach Mike Davis, the Tigers went 19-15 (12-6 SWAC) last year. • Davis previously has served as the head coach at Indiana and UAB. • Senior Tigers forward Jose Rodriguez is an AllSWAC candidate, while Marshall transfer Chris Thomas is a candidate for SWAC Newcomer of the Year honors. • The Vols have never previously faced Texas Southern on the hardwood. • Tennessee and Texas Southern both appeared in the “First Four” round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament in Dayton, Ohio. The Vols advanced by rallying to beat Iowa. Texas Southern fell to Cal Poly.
#SOCIAL DOMINANCE. Tennessee stands among the most-followed college basketball programs across social media platforms, ranking in the top 10 nationally on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. The program’s official Instagram account (@Vol_ Hoops) ranks fifth nationally with 9,066 followers. On Twitter (@Vol_Hoops), Tennessee’s 50,371 followers rank eighth nationally. Hoops a Priority on Rocky Top The University of Tennessee has invested more than $40 million into its basketball facilities since the end of the 2006-07 campaign. Prior to the 2007-08 season, UT added a basketball-only practice facility and began the first phase of renovations to Thompson-Boling Arena. The $19 million first phase of renovations included the addition of 32 luxury suites that are located in the existing north balcony, a loge area just below the luxury suites that includes 166 side court seats, new seats for the entire arena, a $3 million center-hung scoreboard and concourse refurbishments, such as graphics and other amenities. The Vols’ state-of-the-art basketball practice facility, Pratt Pavilion, houses two full-size gymnasiums, one for each of the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as an athletic training room, weight room and film-study room. The athletic department renovated the men’s and women’s basketball offices at the arena during the 2010-11 campaign, creating a new and impressive “front door” for the basketball programs. New to Thompson-Boling Arena last year was the 360-degree LED ribbon board that runs along the bottom of the upper deck. And in March of 2014, TBA became the third college arena to install an LED lighting system (joining Arizona State and Notre Dame).

TYNDALL FOSTERS FAMILY VIBE
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
• One of the key elements of Donnie Tyndall’s coaching philosophy is fostering a family atmosphere within his program. • Earlier this fall, every player on the Tennessee roster was presented with a custom, personalized “dog tag” necklace that is incribed on one side with the phrase “Tennessee Basketball #Family,” along with the player’s name and jersey number. The opposite side is inscribed with one of Tyndall’s favorite acronyms—Humble Appreciative Thankful (HAT).
• During Donnie Tyndall’s career as a head coach, 23 of the 24 players who exhausted their eligibility under him have graduated on time. • A total of 25 Tennessee men’s basketball players have graduated in the last six years. Those players are: Josh Bone, Quinn Cannington, Quinton Chievous, Ryan Childress, Wayne Chism, D’Montre Edwards, John Fields, Melvin Goins, Kenny Hall, Tony Harris, Michael Hubert, Justin Jackson, Chris Lofton, Jeronne Maymon, Skylar McBee, Jordan McRae, Dwight Miller, Rob Murphy, Steven Pearl, J.P. Prince, Tyler Summitt, Cameron Tatum, C.J. Watson, Tanner Wild and Renaldo Woolridge. • Of those 25 graduates in the last six years, 14 went on to sign professional basketball contracts and two have gone into coaching.
DT MAKING REAL OUTREACH EFFORT • Since his hiring on April 22, head coach Donnie Tyndall has made more than 150 appearances and speaking engagements. • From pumping fuel for patrons at a campus gas station, to hosting a charity golf tournament to visiting UT’s fraternities and sororities, Tyndall has made a real effort to reach out and touch Vol fans.
DONNIE, NIKKI ESTABLISH TYNDALL #FAMILY FOUNDATION • Shortly after settling in as Tennessee’s new head coach, Donnie Tyndall, his wife, Nikki, and his daughters, Taylor and Grace, formed The Tyndall #Family Foundation, a pending 501(c)(3) public charity that facilitates the family’s involvement in philanthropic causes throughout Tennessee. • In addition to raising funds to give to nonprofit organizations, The Tyndall #Family Foundation strives to raise the public’s level of awareness regarding philanthropy. One of the goals of the foundation is to encourage members of Tennessee communities, and members of the basketball community, to become involved in and support charitable activity in the greater Knoxville area and the state of Tennessee.
TYNDALL 12th ON TWITTER • With 36,356 followers as of Nov. 8, Vols head coach Donnie Tyndall (@UTCoachTyndall) ranks 12th among the most-followed Division I basketball coaches nationally.
LADY VOLS RANKED 4th • The Tennessee women’s basketball program, led by head coach Holly Warlick, is ranked No. 4 nationally in the preseason AP poll, which was released Thursday, Oct. 30. • The Lady Vols open their regular season Friday when they host Penn (7 p.m. ET, SEC Network+).

JR Guard | 6-4 | 180 Bronx, N.Y. | State Fair Community College (Mo.) PUNTER NOTES
• Started the Pikeville (11/3/14) and Lenoir-Rhyne (11/8/14) exhibition games at shooting guard. • Averaged 9.5 points, 1.5 steals and 1.5 rebounds in exhibition play. • Career shooting guard may be called upon to share some point guard duties for the Vols (has never previously played point guard). • Has added 18 pounds of lean muscle mass since enrolling in June. • Developed his quick-stop, pull-up game out of necessity, as his slight frame made it difficult for him to get to the rim when he was growing up playing on the courts of New York City. • Coach Donnie Tyndall has consistently praised Punter’s “professional” work ethic, training/eating habits and willingness to learn. • Was a first-team junior college All-American last season, averaging 20.3 points per game. • Lives with teammates Devon Baulkman, Braxton Bonds and Dominic Woodson. • Route to Tennessee: Salesian HS > State Fair CC (Mo.) • Majoring in Recreation/Sport Management
