BY THE NUMBERS
28
» During his two-year tenure at Southern Miss, Donnie Tyndall averaged 28 wins per season. The Golden Eagles won 27 games in 2012-13 and 29 games in 2013-14.
1
» That’s how many players on Tennessee’s roster have ever scored in double figures in an SEC game. Josh Richardson is the only Vol to have done so.
TEAM NOTES ABOUT SANTA CLARA • Santa Clara head coach Kerry Keating has a Tennessee connection, as he was an assistant coach for the Vols from 2001-03 under head coach Buzz Peterson. • The 2014-15 campaign marks Keating’s eighth season as the Broncos head coach. Last year, Santa Clara posted a 14-19 (6-12 WCC) record. The Broncos are 2-2 so far this season (0-2 on the road). • Broncos guard Jared Brownridge made 95 3-pointers and shot .436 from beyond the arc last year. • The Volunteers won their only previous meeting with Santa Clara, defeating the Broncos 80-76 at the 1973 Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. • Keating’s father, Larry Keating, was a Senior Associate AD at Kansas from 2003-11 and now serves as a Special Assistant to the Athletics Director there. Before his tenure at Kansas, Larry was the AD at Seton Hall for 12 years (where Kerry played).
KEATING SIGNED WATSON • When Kerry Keating was an assistant coach at Tennessee, he was the lead recruiter for a highly sought-after point guard from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. • That point guard, C.J. Watson, signed with the Vols, became an All-SEC performer, ranks second on UT’s career assists list (577) and is now in his eighth season in the NBA (second year with the Pacers).
FAST BREAK Tennessee is one of only 13 programs in the nation to make at least four NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances in the last eight seasons.
TEXAS SOUTHERN RECAP • Tennessee won its 23rd consecutive home-opener by defeating Texas Southern, 70-58, Nov. 20 at Thompson-Boling Arena. • In his home debut, first-year UT head coach Donnie Tyndall logged his first win with the Volunteers. • The game was tight throughout, as neither team led by more than eight points for the first 34 minutes. The score was deadlocked at 30-30 at halftime, but the Vols managed to pull away at the end. • Senior Josh Richardson led the Vols with 19 points and eight rebounds. Junior Kevin Punter connected on three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points, while freshman Willie Carmichael III tallied 10 points and grabbed seven boards. • Junior Armani Moore scored a career-high 11 points, all in the second half, to go with eight boards. • Down for the game’s first 12 minutes, Tennessee took its first lead of the night on a 3-pointer by Devon Baulkman with 7:59 left in the first half. • The Vols’ stifling defense held Texas Southern to .375 shooting and forced the Tigers into 13 turnovers. Tennessee held a big edge off the glass, 40-27. • Texas Southern had three players score in doublefigures: David Blanks (14), Deverell Biggs (12) and Chris Thomas (11).
“QUOTABLE” #21 Jabari McGhee
“That’s what coach recruited me for—to get rebounds. I’m not a scorer. My job is to get rebounds, and I know that. So as long as I know my role, I’ll be fine.”
HOMECOMING FOR TWO VOLS • Junior forward Derek Reese and freshman forward Willie Carmichael III both hail from the Orlando area. • Reese graduated from Orlando’s Olympia High School in 2012. His older sister, Jessica, was on the Orlando Magic Dance team for four years. • Carmichael graduated this past May from Wekiva High School in Apopka, Fla., which is less than 20 miles north of Orlando.
VOLS VISITING TOBIAS’ TOWN • Orlando Magic star forward Tobias Harris was a one-and-done phenom at Tennessee during the 2010-11 season before becoming the 19th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. • Through Orlando’s first 13 games this season, Harris—now in his third season with the Magic—is the team’s leader in scoring (18.9 ppg) and steals (1.2 spg) while ranking second on the team in rebounding (7.8 ppg).
TENNESSEE PLAYED IN ORLANDO CLASSIC IN 2008 • Tennessee reached the championship game of the 2008 Orlando Classic (then called the “Old Spice Classic”) before falling to ninth-ranked Gonzaga. • The Vols defeated Siena and No. 21 Georgetown on the tourney’s first two days, respectively, to set up the showdown with the top-10 Zags.
VOLS, JAYHAWKS TRAVEL TOGETHER • Traveling Tennessee and Kansas fans may know one another on a first-name basis after the past few years. • In addition to a home-and-home contract in 2009 and 2010—which saw each team win on its own homecourt—the Vols and Jayhawks have been on a similar holiday tournament rotation. • The teams were part of the same field at the 2011 Maui Invitational (did not meet), the 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis (did not meet) and now the 2014 Orlando Classic.
PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL • Though it’s still early in the season, the Vols seem to be playing at a faster pace than they did last year. Points per possession and points per game are both down slightly, which isn’t surprising given what the Vols lost from last year’s team. 2013-14 CATEGORY 2014-15 63.2 Possessions Per 40 Minutes 66.0 1.14 Points Per Possession 1.05 72.2 Points Per Game 69.5
44
» At 44-years-old, Donnie Tyndall is the youngest head basketball coach in the SEC. Born June 14, 1970, he is 37 days younger than MSU’s Rick Ray.
DID
YOU KNOW? Tyndall is a Sneakerhead
Donnie Tyndall has a vast personal collection of close to 500 pairs of sneakers. “I’ve always been a shoe fanatic,” Tyndall said. “I remember my mom and dad would give me a hundred dollars the week before school started and I had to make that work for my clothes. So usually it was three pairs of jeans and three shirts. But one year, they gave me a hundred bucks and the brand-new Jordans came out like the day before and I spent all hundred bucks on those.”
DT Likes Gators?!
Ever since he was a kid, Donnie Tyndall has been fascinated by alligators. He particularly enjoyed watching TV shows about gators. When he was the head coach at Southern Miss, his family surprised him with an actual pet alligator. The gator’s name: Alley-oop. Tyndall eventually had to say goodbye to Alley-oop. The only gator folks in Knoxville approve of is fried gator!
UT Roster Boasts Potential Olympian
If Puerto Rico qualifies for the 2016 Olympics, Vols junior Derek Reese may be boarding a flight to Rio. Reese, whose grandparents, Anselmo and Irma Montañez, were born in Puerto Rico, is active in that country’s national program. He played for Puerto Rico’s Men’s National “B” Team at the 2013 FIBA Stankovic Continental Champions Cup in China.
Michiganders Abound at Tennessee
Each of Tennessee’s “big three” athletic programs prominently feature a Michigan native on the coaching staff. Donnie Tyndall is a native of Grand Rapids. Head football coach Butch Jones hails from Saugatuck. And longtime assistant women’s basketball coach Dean Lockwood is from Bay City.

2014-15 TENNESSEE BASKETBALL | UTSPORTS.COM | @VOL_HOOPS
TENNESSEE BASKETBALL WELCOME TO THE BIG STAGE • Four Tennessee true freshmen—Willie Carmichael III, Jabari McGhee, Detrick Mostella and Tariq Owens—made their college debut on national television vs. 15th-ranked VCU Nov. 14. • Junior-college transfer Kevin Punter, a junior, also made his Division I debut against the Rams. And on Nov. 20 against Texas Southern, fellow juco transfer Devon Baulkman made his first appearance as a Vol.
MOSTELLA SHINES IN DEBUT • Offensively, true freshman wing Detrick Mostella showed no signs of nerves while facing a veteranladen VCU squad in his collegiate debut Nov. 14. • Mostella shared team-high scoring honors by pouring in 17 points in 22 minutes off the bench. • It marked the most points by a Vol in his debut since Tobias Harris scored 18 in his first game in 2010. • Mostella’s 17 points also matched the UT debut scoring total of former Tennessee All-Americans Allan Houston (1989) and Ron Slay (1999).
FAST BREAK Detrick Mostella’s 17-point Tennessee debut equaled the debut scoring output of former All-Americans Allan Houston (1989) and Ron Slay (1999) and marked the most points by a Vol in his debut since current Orlando Magic star Tobias Harris debuted with 18 points against Belmont Nov. 12, 2010.
FOUR SCHOLARSHIP RETURNEES, PROGRAM-RECORD EIGHT SCHOLARSHIP NEWCOMERS
• Through two games, the Vols are forcing 15.5 turnovers per game (leading to 17.0 ppg) and are averaging 8.5 steals and 5.0 blocks per game. • Tennessee has drawn two total charges this season and averages 30.5 deflections per game.
• Tennessee head coach Donnie Tyndall’s first season on Rocky Top signals the addition of eight scholarship newcomers, which marks the most in program history (previous high was seven). • The Vols return only four scholarship players: senior guard Josh Richardson, junior forward Armani Moore, junior forward Derek Reese and sophomore guard Robert Hubbs III. Hubbs appeared in only 12 games last season, as his debut campaign was cut short by a shoulder injury that required surgery. • Among SEC teams, Tennessee’s nine newcomers (includes one walk-on) ties Missouri for the most in the league. UT’s four returning lettermen tie Missouri and Texas A&M for fewest among SEC teams. • Richardson is the only returner who started any games last season (36), while Moore started 16 games as a freshman in 2012-13.
MOORE TAKES CHARGE
VOLS PICKED 13th IN SEC
McGHEE EXTENDING POSSESSIONS • Through his first two college games, freshman Jabari McGhee is averaging 3.5 offensive rebounds. • Seven of his 10 total rebounds have come on the offensive glass.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
• Moore is Tennessee’s active leader in charges drawn, with 10 in his career. He has two this season.
• Tennessee was predicted to finish 13th in the 2015 SEC race by an SEC and national media voting panel.
HOWARD RESIGNS; BRADEN RISES • Tennessee assistant coach Adam Howard resigned Monday, Nov. 24, for personal reasons, effective immediately. Beau Braden has been elevated from his video coordinator role and has assumed Howard’s coaching duties.
ROSTER BREAKDOWN • The Vols’ 2014-15 roster features 15 players (12 scholarship student-athletes) representing nine states. • There are four Vols who hail from the state of Tennessee, three from Georgia, and a pair of players from Florida. Alabama, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Oklahoma and Texas also are represented. • Tennessee has three seniors, five juniors, two sophomores and five freshmen. • Eight Vols stand 6-5 or shorter, and seven players are 6-6 or taller.
RICHARDSON LOOKING TO JOIN 1,000-POINT CLUB • Senior guard Josh Richardson needs just 225 points to become the 47th all-time member of Tennessee’s 1,000-Point Club. • Richardson scored a career-high 381 points last season, and he totaled 261 as a sophomore starter in 2012-13. He appeared in all 34 games as a freshman in 2011-12, scoring 97 points. • Richardson has started 70 of Tennessee’s last 71 games spanning the past three seasons.
RICHARDSON AMONG SEC’s ELITE • Josh Richardson is the only player in the SEC to rank among the league’s active career top-10 in each of the following statistical categories: points, blocks, steals and assists. • Richardson ranks sixth in points (775), fifth in blocks (75), sixth in steals (83) and ninth in assists (135).

CARMICHAEL’S MOTOR NEVER STOPS
VOLS SIGN PHILLIPS, SCHOFIELD
• True freshman forward Willie Carmichael III has drawn the praise of head coach Donnie Tyndall after an outstanding summer and fall. • A native of Apopka, Fla. (less than 20 miles north of Orlando), Carmichael has established a reputation as an eager learner whose motor never stops when he is on the court and a tenacious rebounder who collects boards even outside his area. • Tyndall has even gone on record stating that Carmichael, at this early stage in his career, reminds him of a young Kenneth Faried, who Tyndall coached at Morehead State. • Carmichael initially signed with Tyndall at Southern Miss before following Tyndall to Tennessee.
• Donnie Tyndall announced Nov. 12 that Shembari Phillips and Admiral Schofield have signed NLIs to attend UT and join the Vols as freshmen next year. • The 6-4, 185-pound Phillips is currently a senior at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga. • Phillips attended Tucker High School last season, where he averaged 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks. • Schofield, a 6-6, 220-pound combo forward, attends Zion-Benton Township High School in Zion, Ill. • As a junior last season, Schofield earned honorable mention All-State honors from the Champaign-Urbana News Gazette after averaging 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
FAST BREAK During his two years at Southern Miss, coach Donnie Tyndall led the Golden Eagles to 27 total wins away from home (away/neutral site).
POINT GUARD STORYLINES • UT entered the Donnie Tyndall era without the benefit of having a healthy, “true” point guard on its roster. • Senior wing Josh Richardson made his point guard debut as a Vol Friday vs. VCU. Throughout much of the preseason, Richardson was expected to serve as the backup at the point, but Tyndall ultimately decided that Richardson was the team’s best option at that critical position. • Junior-college transfer Kevin Punter, a career twoguard, spent much of the preseason learning the position for the first time. Punter likely will see some minutes at the point guard spot, as he made noticeable strides during his preseason “audition.” • Senior guard Brandon Lopez, a walk-on from Knoxville, is perhaps the most natural “true point guard” on the roster, but he suffered a torn ACL July 26 and underwent surgery Aug. 14. It is expected that he will miss the entire season. • At the time of his injury, Tyndall stated that Lopez was in the mix to compete for the starting job. • Graduate transfer Ian Chiles, who joined the Vols this summer following an impressive career at IUPUI, also was being looked upon to shoulder part of the load at the point, but Chiles has battled nagging injuries ever since enrolling at UT (hernia surgery, shoulder, ankle and toe injuries).
STEALS PREVALENT IN TYNDALL’S SYSTEM • The aggressive, matchup-zone defensive system employed by coach Donnie Tyndall led to both of his Southern Miss teams ranking among the Division I leaders in steals each of the past two seasons. • In 2012-13, Southern Miss ranked fifth nationally with an average of 9.6 steals per game. In 2013-14, Tyndall’s Conference USA championship team ranked 17th nationally with 8.2 steals per game. • This season, Tennessee averages 8.5 steals per game.
TENNESSEE OWNS THIRD-MOST WINS IN SEC LAST FIVE YEARS • Dating to the beginning of the 2009-10 season, Tennessee has the third-highest win total among all programs in the SEC (overall and in league play). ¢ TOTAL WINS SINCE 2009-10

(L to R) Rodney Woods, Bernard King and Ernie Grunfield were part of a prolific 1974-75 squad. With high-scoring teammates, Woods set the UT single-season record for total assists (227) and assists per game (8.73).
Highest-Scoring Team
The 2014-15 season marks the 40th anniversary of the highest-scoring team in school history. Head coach Ray Mears’ 1974-75 squad averaged 86.6 points per game (2,251 points in 26 games).
Highest Individual Scoring Average
It was also 40 years ago that a member of that team, Hall of Famer Bernard King, set the school record for single-season scoring average. The legendary Vol averaged 26.4 ppg – as a freshman.
Highest Individual Assists Average
That 1974-75 season was a good year to be a Tennessee point guard, and Rodney Woods capitalized. With weapons like Bernard King, Ernie Grunfeld and Mike Jackson flanking him, Woods, a senior, set the UT single-season record for total assists (227) and assists per game (8.73).
Best Team Rebounding Margin
Fifty years ago, head coach Ray Mears put together one of the school’s top-rebounding teams. The 196465 Vols boasted the best rebounding margin in program history, out-rebounding opponents by 16.7 rpg.
Highest-Scoring Debut by a Vol
In Bernard King’s college debut – the 40th anniversary of which takes place Nov. 30, 2014 – he dropped 42 points on Wisconsin-Milwaukee. That still stands as a record for most points in a Tennessee debut.
TYNDALL WANTS VOLS TO OVERACHIEVE • First-year head coach Donnie Tyndall has preached a mantra of “overachieving” to his 2014-15 squad, and he hopes the UT fans will help give the Vols an edge. • Tyndall: “(I want our fans to) help us be the most overachieving team in college basketball. That’s our goal. And I don’t want to say that to undersell our talent level or our players, but we need to overachieve this year to have a good year, and our fans need to help us do that.”

“I couldn’t always get to the rim. So I had no choice but to just pull up. I started really working on that, the 12- to 15-footers. That’s when I started the one-dribble pull-up, stop on a dime, things like that.”

UPCOMING SCHEDULING NOTES • Tennessee hosts Kansas State Dec. 6 as part of the 2014 SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Volunteers have never previously faced K-State on the hardwood. Tennessee’s all-time record against current members of the Big 12 stands at 10-15. Kansas State AD John Currie was a senior athletics administrator at Tennessee for more than 10 years immediately prior to his hiring in Manhattan, Kan. • Tennessee begins a two-year, home-and-home contract with Butler Dec. 14 in Knoxville. UT trails its alltime series with Butler 2-1, dating to 1958. Tennessee and Butler are two of only 13 programs in the nation to make at least four NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances in the last eight seasons. • With the launch of the SEC Network, the scheduling of midweek games has been adjusted. In addition to the traditional Tuesday night games on ESPN and ESPNU, there will also be two Tuesday games on the SEC Network. Wednesdays will feature two contests on the SEC Network, while Thursdays will highlight one game on either ESPN or ESPN2. • And after not playing in Knoxville last season for the first time since 1953, Kentucky returns to Rocky Top Feb. 17 for an ESPN “Super Tuesday” matchup. The Vols do not play at Rupp Arena this season, marking UT’s first hoops campaign without a trip to Lexington, Ky., since 1953. • Texas A&M handed the Big Orange a pair of heartbreaking, buzzer-beater losses last season. That series resumes Jan. 24 in Knoxville when the Aggies visit Thompson-Boling Arena. • Former UT coach Bruce Pearl (2005-11) returns to Thompson-Boling Arena as Auburn’s coach Jan. 31. • For the first time since 1964, Georgia does not visit Knoxville. The Bulldogs host Tennessee Feb. 7.

STRONGER HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT FAILS TO WORK HARD. Strength & Conditioing Notes
The Vols spent their summer working intensely with first-year strength and conditioning coach Todd Moyer, who tracked each player’s development throughout the summer. Junior forward Armani Moore finished the summer owning “team bests” in the 185-pound bench press (17 reps) and body-weight chin-ups (18 reps). Sophomore forward Dominic Woodson shared bench-press honors with Moore by also hoisting 17 reps. True freshman forward Willie Carmichael III showed the team’s biggest improvement in the bench press, increasing his max reps by 10 through the course of summer workouts. Carmichael also added a team-best 11.6 pounds of muscle over June and July.

“It’s been a real focus for me.. Coach Tyndall wants me to use my athleticism to get on the boards. He’s turning me into a beast about going out there and finding the ball.”
TYNDALL, MOORE FINALLY TOGETHER • Junior forward Armani Moore signed with Tennessee in April 2012. But during his recruitment, he gave serious consideration to several schools. • One of the other programs recruiting Moore during his high school days was Morehead State and head coach Donnie Tyndall. • When Tyndall took the Tennessee job in April 2014, one returning Vol—Moore—was already familiar with Tyndall and assured his UT teammates that the Big Orange landed both a good man and a good coach.

Jay Bilas, ESPN “I were a coaching in college now, I would give an awful lot of consideration to playing a zone as a primary defense. I really do think (teams have to) spend so much time preparing for (that zone), that you might not be as proficient in doing what you do. Teams like Syracuse and Louisville, they can really take teams out of what they do and force them to play your way. You’re making a team play in a manner they don’t usually play or want to play. So I think Donnie’s system will work really well if he gets the right personnel.”
UT HAS BEATEN SEVERAL NBA STARS
“THE MANIMAL” IS A TYNDALL PUPIL
• Over the last eight years, several of the NBA’s elite stars who didn’t experience many losses during their college days have tasted defeat at the hands of the Volunteers.
• Kenneth Faried, one of the NBA’s biggest young stars, was recruited and coached by Donnie Tyndall at Morehead State. • This past summer, Faried—known as “The Manimal”—led the U.S. National Team to gold at the FIBA World Cup. • The Denver Nuggets signed Faried to a five-year, $60 million contract extension in October. • Faried’s impressive development under Tyndall shined most during the 2010-11 campaign, as he won his second consecutive OVC Player of the Year award, earned consensus All-American status and broke Tim Duncan’s career NCAA rebounding record before being selected 22nd overall by Denver in the 2011 NBA Draft.

FAST BREAK Tennessee has produced 45 all-time NBA Draft picks, including eight first-rounders. Two Vols were selected in the 2014 NBA Draft, as Jarnell Stokes was picked 35th, and Jordan McRae was taken 58th.
TENNESSEE AD HART A TRUE BASKETBALL MAN • Tennessee Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Dave Hart is a true “basketball man,” as he played collegiately at Alabama. • A 1971 Alabama graduate, Hart played under legendary head coach C.M. Newton and earned a master’s degree from UA in 1972 while working as a graduate assistant basketball coach. • Hart is the only AD in the SEC who was a college basketball player.
TWO VOLS TAKEN IN D-LEAGUE DRAFT • Former Vols forward Kenny Hall (2009-13) was selected by the Deleware 87ers in the fourth round of the NBA D-League Draft Nov. 1. Hall was the first player selected in the fourth round (55th overall). • Another former UT forward, Renaldo Woolridge (2008-12), was selected in the fourth round by the Grand Rapids Drive (59th overall).
UP NEXT: KANSAS OR RHODE ISLAND • Tennessee faces either 11th-ranked Kansas or Rhode Island Friday on the Day 2 of the Orlando Classic. • Kansas is in its 11th season under the leadership of head coach Bill Self. The Jayhawks started the year 1-1 and are ranked No. 11 nationally in the AP poll. • The Jayhawks went 24-9 last season and won the Big 12 regular-season title with a 14-4 record. • Tennessee owns a 1-1 all-time record vs. Kansas. The teams played a home-and-home contract in January of 2009 and 2010, and each school won on its home floor. • Rhode Island is in its third year under head coach Dan Hurley, who guided the Rams to a 14-18 record last season. • Rhode Island is off to a 2-0 start this season and is picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic 10 Conference. • Rams sophomore point guard E.C. Matthews is on the Bob Cousy Award watch list. • Tennessee lost its only previous meeting with Rhode Island, dropping a 51-44 contest in 1945 in NYC.
#SOCIAL DOMINANCE. Tennessee stands among the most-followed college basketball programs across social media platforms, ranking in the top 10 nationally on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. The program’s official Instagram account (@Vol_ Hoops) ranks fifth nationally with 9,500 followers. On Twitter (@Vol_Hoops), Tennessee’s 51,615 followers rank eighth nationally. And the team’s official Facebook page (facebook.com/BallWithTheVols) boasts 126,992 “likes” to rank 10th among all college hoops programs.

Hoops a Priority on Rocky Top The University of Tennessee has invested more than $40 million into its basketball facilities since the end of the 2006-07 campaign. Prior to the 2007-08 season, UT added a basketball-only practice facility and began the first phase of renovations to Thompson-Boling Arena. The $19 million first phase of renovations included the addition of 32 luxury suites that are located in the existing north balcony, a loge area just below the luxury suites that includes 166 side court seats, new seats for the entire arena, a $3 million center-hung scoreboard and concourse refurbishments, such as graphics and other amenities. The Vols’ state-of-the-art basketball practice facility, Pratt Pavilion, houses two full-size gymnasiums, one for each of the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as an athletic training room, weight room and film-study room. The athletic department renovated the men’s and women’s basketball offices at the arena during the 2010-11 campaign, creating a new and impressive “front door” for the basketball programs. “QUOTABLE”
Gary Parrish, CBSsports.com “Josh Richardson got a lot of attention last March based on him averaging 19 points per game in the NCAA Tournament while UT made the Sweet Sixteen. But his best attribute, the one that might give him a chance to play in the NBA, is his ability to guard on the perimeter. He’s 6-foot-6 and active with long arms. Just a terrific piece for Donnie Tyndall to inherit.”
TYNDALL FOSTERS FAMILY VIBE
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
• One of the key elements of Donnie Tyndall’s coaching philosophy is fostering a family atmosphere within his program. • Earlier this fall, every player on the Tennessee roster was presented with a custom, personalized “dog tag” necklace that is incribed on one side with the phrase “Tennessee Basketball #Family,” along with the player’s name and jersey number. The opposite side is inscribed with one of Tyndall’s favorite acronyms—Humble Appreciative Thankful (HAT).
• During Donnie Tyndall’s career as a head coach, 23 of the 24 players who exhausted their eligibility under him have graduated on time. • A total of 25 Tennessee men’s basketball players have graduated in the last six years. Those players are: Josh Bone, Quinn Cannington, Quinton Chievous, Ryan Childress, Wayne Chism, D’Montre Edwards, John Fields, Melvin Goins, Kenny Hall, Tony Harris, Michael Hubert, Justin Jackson, Chris Lofton, Jeronne Maymon, Skylar McBee, Jordan McRae, Dwight Miller, Rob Murphy, Steven Pearl, J.P. Prince, Tyler Summitt, Cameron Tatum, C.J. Watson, Tanner Wild and Renaldo Woolridge. • Of those 25 graduates in the last six years, 14 went on to sign professional basketball contracts and two have gone into coaching.
DT MAKING REAL OUTREACH EFFORT • Since his hiring on April 22, head coach Donnie Tyndall has made more than 150 appearances and speaking engagements. • From pumping fuel for patrons at a campus gas station, to hosting a charity golf tournament to visiting UT’s fraternities and sororities, Tyndall has made a real effort to reach out and touch Vol fans.
DONNIE, NIKKI ESTABLISH TYNDALL #FAMILY FOUNDATION • Shortly after settling in as Tennessee’s new head coach, Donnie Tyndall, his wife, Nikki, and his daughters, Taylor and Grace, formed The Tyndall #Family Foundation, a pending 501(c)(3) public charity that facilitates the family’s involvement in philanthropic causes throughout Tennessee. • In addition to raising funds to give to nonprofit organizations, The Tyndall #Family Foundation strives to raise the public’s level of awareness regarding philanthropy. One of the goals of the foundation is to encourage members of Tennessee communities, and members of the basketball community, to become involved in and support charitable activity in the greater Knoxville area and the state of Tennessee.
TENNESSEE PART OF 2016 MAUI FIELD • Tennessee will join Chaminade (host school), UConn, Georgetown, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Wisconsin in the 2016 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational field. • It will be UT’s third all-time appearance at the Maui Invitational. The Vols also played in the event in 2004 (fourth place) and 2011 (seventh place).
TYNDALL 12th ON TWITTER • With 37,062 followers as of Nov. 25, Vols head coach Donnie Tyndall (@UTCoachTyndall) ranks 12th among the most-followed Division I basketball coaches nationally.
LADY VOLS RANKED 4th • The Tennessee women’s basketball program, led by head coach Holly Warlick, is ranked No. 4 nationally in the AP poll. • The Lady Vols are 4-0 this season, with dominant wins over Penn, Oral Roberts, Winthrop and Tennessee State.

“I’m a guy that’s up for the challenge. Everywhere I’ve been, we have been the underdog or overlooked in some way, shape or form. I’ll embrace that, and I hope our players will embrace that. • Logged a career-high 13 points, including three 3-pointers against Texas Southern (11/20/14). • Scored eight points and had a team-high seven assists in the Vols’ opener vs. VCU (11/14/14); it was his first game/start as a Vol. • Career shooting guard will be called upon to share some point guard duties for the Vols (had never previously played point guard). • Has added 18 pounds of lean muscle mass since enrolling in June. • Developed his quick-stop, pull-up game out of necessity, as his slight frame made it difficult for him to get to the rim when he was growing up playing on the courts of New York City. • Coach Donnie Tyndall has consistently praised Punter’s “professional” work ethic and traininghabits. • Was a first-team junior college All-American last season, averaging 20.3 points per game. • Lives with teammates Devon Baulkman, Braxton Bonds and Dominic Woodson. • Route to Tennessee: Salesian HS > State Fair CC (Mo.) • Majoring in Recreation/Sport Management
