¢ Saturday’s game represents the 42nd all-time meeting between the Vols and Gators. ¢ Florida has the all-time series advantage, 22-19, including seven consecutive victories since 2005, their longest streak in the series with the Vols. Tennessee has scored 23 or fewer points in each of those games and 20 or fewer in six in a row from 2005-10. ¢ The last time the two teams played when both were ranked was Sept. 15, 2007 (#22 UT vs #5 UF). ¢ UT has lost three in a row at home in the series but owns an 11-10 advantage in Knoxville. ¢ With a No. 23 ranking in the Associated Press Poll, Tennessee has returned to the Top 25 for the first time since a No. 18 ranking before the first week of the 2008 season. ¢ The Vols are not ranked in the Top 25 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll but received 71 votes, equivalent to a No. 29 national ranking. ¢ Tennessee is one of seven SEC schools currently ranked in the Top 25, including four in the top 10: Alabama (1 AP/1 Coaches), LSU (3 AP/2 Coaches), Georgia (7 AP/7 Coaches), South Carolina (8 AP/9 Coaches), Arkansas (21 Coaches), Florida (18 AP/17 Coaches). Tennessee has also gained 500-plus yards in each of its first two games for the first time in school history. ¢ The 558 yards of total offense against Georgia State are the most in a game for Tennessee since tallying 657 in the season opener vs. Western Kentucky in 2009. ¢ Tennessee’s offense has gained 1,082 yards in its first two games for a 541.0 yards per game average which ranks 2nd in the SEC and 15th nationally. ¢ The Vols lead the SEC in passing offense (353.5, T-9th in NCAA) and are also tied with Georgia for the SEC lead in scoring offense at 43 points per game (T-15th NCAA). UT also ranks 3rd in the SEC and 8th nationally in pass efficiency at 182.9. ¢ Tennessee is tied with Mississippi State for the SEC lead in fewest sacks allowed with one.
COLLEGE GAMEDAY RETURNS TO ROCKY TOP
ESPN GameDay is returning to Knoxville for the Tennessee-Florida game this weekend. The program will originate from Knoxville for the first time since the UT-Auburn game on Oct. 2, 2004. Tennessee is hosting GameDay for the eighth time overall and the fourth time when Florida is the opponent (1996, 2000, and 2002). Only four other schools have hosted more since GameDay’s inception in 1993. The Tennessee-Florida rivalry has served as the backdrop for GameDay seven times, tied for second alltime with the Ohio State-Penn State matchup. Only the Florida-Florida State matchup has hosted more often (eight times). Including 10 road or neutral site appearances, the Vols are being featured on ESPN GameDay for the 18th time overall, the 10th-highest total nationally.
