VOLS OFF TO HOT START ¢ Tennessee opened the 2014 season with three decisive victories against Big Ten foe Purdue, starting 3-0 for the second time under third-year head coach Dave Serrano. ¢ In his first year at Tennessee, Serrano led the Vols to the second-best start to a season in school history, as they tallied seven straight wins to open the 2012 campaign. ¢ The 7-0 start also marked the best by any UT skipper to start his Tennessee managerial career, topping the previous mark of 4-0 set by William H. Newman in 1902 and tied by Z.G. Clevenger in 1911. ¢ The Vols look to snap a two-game losing streak to Appalachian State today, and will host UNLV for a three-game set this weekend. The Rebels won three out of four against UT in Las Vegas last season.
