THE KENTUCKY GAME  Tennessee continues its 115th season with its 107th all-time meeting against the Kentucky Wildcats. Kickoff in Lexington is slated for 12:21 p.m. on the SEC Network. UT is 794-345-53 (.688) all-time.  Tennessee has won 26 consecutive games over Kentucky since 1985, the second-longest active winning streak between two NCAA D-I teams (Penn State over Temple - 29 games) and tied for the eighth-longest all-time.  The Vols have won 14 consecutive games vs. Kentucky at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington since 1983. UT’s last loss in Lexington to the Wildcats was a 21-10 defeat in 1981.

 Tennessee is 74-23-9 all-time vs. Kentucky, including a 35-13-3 advantage in Lexington and a 3910-6 edge in Knoxville. With 74 wins, the Vols have more victories against Kentucky than any other opponent in school history. The last loss for UT in the series was a 17-12 defeat in Knoxville in 1984.  The last two games in Lexington both went to overtime. UT won in 2007 in four overtimes, 52-50, and defeated UK in 2009 in one overtime, 30-24. Four of the last seven games in the series have been decided by six points or fewer and five of seven were decided by 10 or fewer points.

Regular-Season Finale

 For the 10th consecutive time since 2002, the Vols end their regular season against Kentucky. Tennessee has won 28 consecutive regular-season finales since 1983, including 17 wins over Vanderbilt, nine over Kentucky, and one each over Florida and Memphis. Tennessee has also won 35 of its last 36 regular-season finales since 1975, with the lone loss a 28-21 defeat to Vanderbilt in Nashville in 1982.

A Tennessee Win Would...

 Improve the Vols to 6-6 overall this season and 2-6 in the SEC while marking the 27th consecutive win for Tennessee over Kentucky. A win would also be the 15th consecutive for the Vols at Commonwealth Stadium since 1983.  Represent the 29th consecutive win for Tennessee in the final game of the regular season schedule.  Make Tennessee eligible for the 50th bowl trip in school history, a mark that rank behind only Alabama, which will make its 59th bowl trip this season.  Improve Tennessee to 11-4 in its last 15 road games in November vs. conference opponents since 2002.  Give the Vols their 10th win in the last 16 regular-season games and snap a three-game road losing streak.  Improve the Vols to 77-13 (.856) in November since 1990, including a 34-7 (.829) mark on the road.

Walk-Off Home Run

 Tennessee defeated Vanderbilt in overtime last Saturday in Knoxville, a 27-21 win that ended on Eric Gordon’s 90-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first OT period. The win marked the first time in Tennessee history that the Vols ended a game by scoring a defensive touchdown. UT is now 10-3 in overtime games, tied with Missouri for the most overtime wins in NCAA history (the Tigers are 10-4 in OT games).  Eric Gordon’s interception return for a touchdown also marked the first defensive score in overtime by any Division I FBS school since Ohio did so vs. Pittsburgh on Sept. 9, 2005, a span of 2,263 days (6 years, 2 months, 11 days).

November Remembered

 Tennessee continues its November schedule with Saturday’s game at Kentucky. Over the last 11 seasons since 2000, the Vols are 39-10 in November (.796). UT has won 17 of its last 21 games during the month since a 39-10 win at Vanderbilt on Nov. 18, 2006, and has won eight of the last nine November games since Nov. 21, 2009.  The Vols are 76-13 (.854) in November in the last 21 seasons since 1990, including 37-3 (.925) record in regularseason games in November or later during the decade of the 1990s.  The Vols were 51-3 (.944) in November from 1991-2003 and are 21-9 (.700) during the month since 2004...UT won 21 consecutive November games between 1990-96.
