THE TEXAS A&M MATCH
¢ Tennessee makes its SEC home debut against Texas A&M. ¢ The Aggies, who have won their last two meetings with the Lady Vols, enter the match ranked 21st in the latest AVCA poll. Rich Kern ranks A&M 20th. ¢ The Aggies’ last trip to Knoxville saw them earn a 3-2 victory at Thompson-Boling Arena late in the 2012 season. It was just the seventh loss of the year for UT which finished regular season at 22-7. ¢ Texas A&M is 9-3 overall on the year and two of those losses have come at the hands of now fifthranked Florida State. The Aggies and Seminoles played back-to-back matches on Sept. 19-20 in College Station and FSU came away wins of 3-1 and 3-0. ¢ Shelby Sullivan, a 6-2 middle blocker, leads A&M in kills at 3.20 per set. Sullivan was an All-SEC and AVCA All-Southeast Honorable Mention selection a season ago. ¢ The last time UT faced a ranked A&M squad was Dec. 4, 2004 when the Lady Vols defeated the 18th ranked Aggies 3-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

¢ Sunday marks the 47th meeting between the Lady Vols and Crimson Tide in a series that dates back to 1973. ¢ The two programs met just once a season ago and Alabama prevailed 3-0 in Tuscaloosa to snap what was a 10-match winning streak in the series for UT. ¢ The Crimson Tide currently sit atop the SEC standings with a 2-0 conference mark and are tied with Ole Miss for the best overall record in the league at 14-2. Alabama has won nine straight matches and is receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll for the first time in school history. ¢ Redshirt sophomore Krystal Rivers earned her second straight SEC Player of the Week honor on Monday following a week in which she tallied 22 kills against Georgia and 26 more against LSU. ¢ Rivers leads the SEC in kills (263) and ranks second in kills per set (4.38). ¢ As a team, Alabama ranks second in the conference in both total kills (821) and kills per set (13.68). The Tide have also been staunch defensively, ranking second in the SEC in opponent hitting percentage at .165.
