THE MISSISSIPPI STATE MATCH
¢ Both Tennessee and Mississippi State enter the weekend looking to snap lengthy losing skids. While the Lady Vols have dropped their last six, the Bulldogs have come out on the wrong end of eight straight. ¢ Last week, MSU went 0-2 with a pair of road losses at LSU and Magnolia State rival Ole Miss. Both matches finished with identical 3-0 score lines. ¢ Unlike last season when UT and MSU met in a homeand-home season series, Friday marks the only meeting of the 2014 season between the Lady Vols and Bulldogs. Tennessee owns a 17-3 record all-time in Starkville. ¢ One major story coming out of the MSU camp this season has centered around the work of freshman libero Payton Harris. The Houston native currently leads the nation in both total digs (506) and d/s (6.84). ¢ Harris set a single-match SEC record for digs earlier this season when she turned in 59 digs against Northwestern State, falling just three shy of the NCAA record. ¢ Behind Harris’ efforts, the Bulldogs lead the SEC and rank 24th nationally in team digs per set at 16.61. and 30th in total digs at 1,229.

THE GEORGIA MATCH
¢ Tennessee and Georgia meet for the 69th time on Sunday in a nationally televised match on the SEC Network. ¢ The Bulldogs enter the week having dropped their last two contests, both on the road, at No. 8 Florida and Arkansas. ¢ UGA boasts one of the SEC’s top defenses at the net as the Bulldogs rank second in the league in team blocks per set (2.59) and fifth in team total blocks (163.0). ¢ Leading that charge is sophomore middle blocker Desiree McCray. A Columbia, S.C., native, McCray is third in the SEC in both blocks per set (1.35) and total blocks (44) -- figures that rank 26th and 44th nationally. ¢ Senior outside hitter Tirah Le’au leads UGA in kills at 2.75 per set. She has posted seven double-doubles on the year in 17 matches -- a team-high. ¢ Georgia owns a 5-3 record at the Ramsey Center this season, including a 3-1 win over Missouri in its last home outing. The Bulldogs are also 1-1 in matches played on the SEC Network. UT is 0-1. ¢ Prior to facing the Lady Vols, Georgia will play host to 12th-ranked Kentucky on Friday night.
