¢ TENNESSEE IN WCWS EXTRA-INNING GAMES Tennessee is now 2-2 in extra-inning WCWS games. The Lady Vols took a 2-0 win over Michigan in 11 innings back in Game 12 of the 2005 WCWS. UT won 3-1 over Arizona State in nine innings back in Game 9 of the 2005 WCWS. Tennessee’s last Championship Series appearance was in 2007. UT knows that it is very possible for a team to lose Game 1 and win the series. The Lady Vols defeated Arizona, 3-0, in Game 1, but the Wildcats took Game 2, 1-0, in 10 innings and then won the title with a 5-0 victory in Game 3.
¢ SHIPMAN’S EIGHTH MULTI-RUN HOMER Madison Shipman’s 11th-inning, three run-blast was her eighth multi-run homer of the season. Four of her last five home runs have been three-run blasts. ¢ ELLEN RENFROE MATCHES CAREER HIGH Ellen Renfroe’s 11 completed innings pitched tied her caeer high. She previously pitched 11 innings in a 1-0 win over NC State on May 18, 2013, in the NCAA Regionals and in a 3-1 loss to Georgia on April 4, 2012. Renfroe’s 13 strikeouts in the loss tied for her secondhighest total of the season. She struck out 14 in an eightinning win over Florida on March 16. ¢ GIBSON HITTING .417 IN WCWS Lauren Gibson leads the team with a .417 batting average through four WCWS games. She is 5-for-12 with one homer, one double, two RBIs and four runs. She has 19 homers on the year, a UT record.
