Monday Press Conference

The Breakdown Tennessee concludes the 2010 regular season with a Saturday afternoon game vs. the Kentucky Wildcats with kickoff slated for 12:21 PM. A win would make the Vols bowl-eligible and also give Tennessee its first four-game winning streak since UT won five in a row to close out the 2007 regular season.

The Series  Tennessee owns a 73-23-9 edge over Kentucky in the all-time series. The Vols are 38-10-6 in Knoxville and 35-13-3 in Lexington vs. the Wildcats.  The Vols have won 25 consecutive games over Kentucky from 1985-2009, the longest active winning streak in any series in NCAA Division I FBS.  UT has also defeated UK in 27 out of the last 28 matchups since 1982 and 30 of 32 since 1978.  The last Kentucky win in the series was a 17-12 decision in Knoxville in 1984.

 Two of the last three matchups (both in Lexington) have been decided in overtime...the Vols won 30-24 in overtime last year and also 52-50 in four overtimes in 2007.  As part of the 25-game winning streak, the Vols have won the last 12 games in the series played in Knoxville.  Four of the last six games between Tennessee and Kentucky since 2004 have been decided by six points or less.

To Note Nov. 20: Tennessee 24, Vanderbilt 10

 Tennessee defeated Vanderbilt 24-10 Saturday night in Nashville, giving the Vols their first threegame winning streak since the team won five in a row to end the 2007 regular season.  The win was the 27th for Tennessee over the Commodores in the last 28 games of the series, as well as the 14th consecutive win for UT in Nashville vs. Vandy.  Tyler Bray threw TD passes to Justin Hunter and Denarius Moore, while Tauren Poole’s 28-yard TD run with 1:22 remaining sealed the Tennessee victory.

Big-Play Offense

 Through nine games, the Vols have recorded 64 plays of 20+ yards (19 for touchdowns), eclipsing the totals from each of the last three seasons...Tennessee has 24 plays of 20+yards over the last three games (8 at Memphis, 9 vs. Ole Miss, 7 at Vanderbilt)...the Vols had 61 plays of 20+ yards in 2009 (10 for TD’s).  Tennessee Plays of 20 Yards or More, 2007-10 Year Plays of 20+ Yds. 2007 49 2008 34 2009 61 2010 65 (through 11 games)

November Remembered

 Tennessee concludes its November schedule with Saturday’s game vs. Kentucky...over the last 11 seasons since 2000, the Vols are 36-9 in November (.800)...UT has won 14 of its last 17 games during the month since a 39-10 win at Vanderbilt on Nov. 18, 2006.  Tennessee is 73-12 (.859) in November in the last 21 seasons since 1990, including an astounding 37-3 (.925) record in regular-season games in November or later during the decade of the 1990s.  The Vols were 51-3 (.944) in November from 19912003 and are 18-8 (.692) during the month since 2004...UT won 21 consecutive November games between 1990-96.  Tennessee Record by Month (Since 1990) Years Sept.* Oct.
