AT FIRST GLANCE

THE SOUTH CAROLINA GAME

¢ Saturday marks the 32nd all-time meeting between UT and USC. The Vols are 22-7-2 vs. the Gamecocks all-time despite three consecutive losses. ¢ Tennessee won a series-best 12 consecutive games over South Carolina from 1993-2004. ¢ Since 2000, no matchup in the SEC has been closer, as the average margin of victory of 8.69 is the narrowest of any regular SEC matchup (min. 10 games).  Narrowest Margin of Victory, SEC Series, Since 2000 TENNESSEE-S. CAROLINA 8.69 Georgia-South Carolina 9.85 Ole Miss-Vanderbilt 9.93

¢ In the last 11 meetings since 2002, the game has been within a touchdown in the fourth quarter seven times and has gone to overtime twice (2003, 2007). ¢ The Vols’ last win over a ranked team was also their last win over the Gamecocks, 31-13 in Knoxville on Oct. 31, 2009, UT has lost 19 consecutive games vs. ranked teams. The last UT win over a Top 15 team was over South Carolina, 27-24 on Oct. 27, 2007.

OPEN WEEK SUCCESS

¢ Coming off of an open date, Tennessee is 78-37-9 (.665) all time. ¢ Butch Jones is 8-1 as a head coach after an open week.

SCHEDULE NOTES

¢ Once again, Tennessee is playing one of the most difficult schedules in the nation. Tennessee has played three of its six games in 2013 vs. ranked team, and the next four UT games are all vs. ranked opponents. ¢ The Vols have played at #2 Oregon, at #19 Florida, and vs. #6 Georgia (rankings are at time of game). UT’s next four games are against #11 South Carolina, at #1 Alabama, at #14 Missouri, and vs. #24 Auburn. ¢ If the next four opponents all remain ranked at the time of the game, Tennessee will play seven ranked opponents (at time of game) during the regular season in a single year for the first time in school history. ¢ In 1991, UT played six ranked teams in the regular season (#21 UCLA, #23 Mississippi St., #13 Auburn, at # 10Florida, at #14 Alabama, at #5 Notre Dame), and played #6 Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl that year.

BATTLE AT BRISTOL, 2016

¢ As announced Monday, Tennessee will play Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn. on Sept. 10, 2016. ¢ With a capacity of 150,000-plus, the Bristol Motor Speedway game featuring the Vols and Hokies could set the college football attendance record (currently 115,109 at Michigan Stadium, Michigan vs. Notre Dame).
