¢ For the sixth time in program history, Tennessee is ranked in the Top 10 of both national preseason polls (2006, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016). The Vols rank No. 8 in the NFCA Preseason Poll and No. 9 in the USA Softball Preseason Poll. ¢ UT is coming off its seventh WCWS appearance in the last 11 seasons, all under co-head coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly. ¢ Four of the Vols’ six opponents this week advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. (BYU, Fresno State, Arizona State, Northwestern) ¢ Tennessee returns nine players from last year’s team, including NFCA All-American Rainey Gaffin and SEC All-Freshmen team selections Meghan Gregg & Scarlet McSwain. ¢ UT’s 10-member freshmen class was rated No. 2 in the nation by Full Count Softball and included five players on the Hot 100 list. HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB HIGHLIGHTS • Ranked as the No. 7 player in Full Count Softball’s Hot 100 • Played high school ball at Palos Verdes Peninsula where she hit .463 with 20 RBIs and had a .503 on-base percentage as a senior. • Batted .425 or better during all four years of high school • Hit .447 with 16 stolen bases as a freshman and .478 with 23 stolen bases as a sophomore • Led her club team the So Cal Athletics to national championships in 2012 and 2013 and a third-place finish in 2014 • Captained the So Cal Athletics 18U team for two years as well as their 16U and 14U teams for a year apiece • In the So Cal A’s 2014 run, Vines hit .500 (16-for-32) and displayed outstanding defense in the outfield with good instincts, range and fundamentals • Over the course of her summer ball and high school career, Vines stole over 70 bases • On the So Cal Athletics, Vines was a three-year teammate of current Tennessee standout Megan Geer
