MEET & GREET: INTERACTING WITH THE NEXT GENERATION KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee soccer team welcomed hundreds of fans to Regal Soccer Stadium on Aug. 7 for the fourth-annual Meet & Greet. After head coach Brian Pensky, who enters his fourth season at Tennessee, introduced the all 28 players on the 2015 roster to fans in the video room, the Volunteers signed autographs and interacted with fans of all ages eager for the start of the season. “It’s a win for everybody,” Pensky said. “It’s another chance for our players to be leaders in the community and start to develop relationships with little girls that they were five, six, 10 years ago. We have a 17-year-old on our team. Five years ago, she might have been asking for autographs from some college player. It’s an awesome opportunity for our players to get out and connect with these young kids who look up to our players.” Later in the evening, the team split up into two squads for the Orange & White scrimmage, which ended in a 1-1 draw after Hannah Wilkinson scored an early goal for the Orange and Anna McClung scored later for the White. “Hopefully it’s the start of what will be a special fall with these families and these kids coming out to support our players all season long,” Pensky said.

ALLIE SIRNA Tennessee made one of its most impressive late-season runs in program history in 2014. UT rallied around its seniors for a 3-0 Senior Day win over Missouri on Oct. 26. The Vols followed that with a 3-2, double-overtime comeback win at Ole Miss on Oct. 30 with Cheyenne Spade scoring the winner in the 106th minute to punch UT’s ticket to the SEC Tournament as the No. 10 seed. In Orange Beach, the Big Orange upset No. 7 seed Alabama on Nov. 11, scoring three goals in the final 26 minutes to rally back for a 3-2 win. Tennessee played No. 2 seed Florida to a gritty 1-1 tie and advanced on PKs, 5-4, to continue on to the SEC Tournament semifinals. The team’s magical ride came to an end when UT’s second-half rally fell short in a 3-2 loss to Kentucky in the semis. Allie Sirna and Hannah Wilkinson would earn NSCAA All-South Region honors. Wilkinson led Tennessee with 21 points off nine goals and three assists. She played a big role in Tennessee’s late season run deep into the SEC Tournament, tallying four goals and two assists in the final five games. She received SEC All-Tournament Team honors and has been recognized as one of the top players in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. Sirna anchored a Tennessee defense that posted seven shutouts in 2014. She was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team, tying for the team lead with 290 minutes played on the back line during Tennessee’s run to the SEC Tournament semifinals. She played wire-to-wire in 28 shutouts in her career, tying for fourthmost by a defensive field player in school history. Her 7,823 career minutes played ranks sixth in Tennessee history.
