EXHIBITION GAME SET-UP #4/4 Tennessee plays its lone exhibition game of the 2014-15 campaign on Sunday at Thompson-Boling Arena, hosting NCAA Division II school Carson-Newman at 2 p.m. All tickets to the game are $5. This marks the 11th-consecutive year these two teams have met in an exhibition game. Tennessee has reached the century mark in nine of the last 10 meetings vs. the Lady Eagles. UT won by scores of 105-47 (2004), 101-55 (2005), 104-49 (2006), 135-55 (2008), 124-34 (2009), 110-66 (2010), 105-40 (2011), 104-44 (2012) and 115-31 (2013). This will mark only the second time since 2001-02 (and second straight season) that the Lady Vols have faced one exhibition opponent. During that ‘01-02 campaign, UT hosted Remus Austria Power Basket in a single exhibition game and won handily, 108-69.

Tennessee will be without four players for the exhibition game due to a violation of team rules as it pertains to academic expectations, Head Coach Holly Warlick announced on Weds., Nov. 5. Seniors Cierra Burdick and Ariel Massengale, redshirt sophomore Andraya Carter and redshirt freshman Jannah Tucker will not play vs. Carson-Newman. Carter and Massengale also will miss the season-opener vs. Penn on Nov. 14. Burdick will miss both the Penn and Oral Roberts games (Nov. 17). Tucker, who is working her way back from an offseason procedure on her left knee, will miss two contests at the time she has been cleared medically to return to competition in games. Diamond DeShields and Mercedes Russell are redshirting, leaving Holly Warlick with eight active players vs. C-N.
WE GO TO CLASS & GRADUATE It’s a rule that not every program has, but players know if they miss classes without permission, they will miss games. Go to class, be on time and sit in the front three rows are three rules that are Tennessee hallmarks. Those principles apply to every member of the team. While some might consider those standards incredibly high, it certainly contributes to the Lady Vols having a 100 percent graduation rate for players who complete their eligibility at UT. It also helps explain why seven of 11 players on last year’s squad were members of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
