GAME FOUR SET-UP After opening with two wins on the road and taking the home opener vs. Chattanooga on Thursday night, #4/3 Tennessee returns to Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday night for a 7:04 p.m. contest with Georgia Tech (2-0). FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Tennessee will have the telecast, starting at 7 p.m. with Bob Kesling and Debbie Antonelli calling the action. The Lady Vols have started a season 3-0 for the first time since 2010-11, defeating Middle Tennessee and #12/11 North Carolina on the road and Chattanooga at home. On Thursday night, Tennessee broke open at 32-32 halftime tie with a 21-4 run in the first six minutes of the second stanza en route to an 80-56 victory over Chattanooga. Georgia Tech, which is receiving votes in both polls, is 2-0 after winning home games vs. Coppin State (79-57) on Nov. 8 and Western Carolina (87-47) on Nov. 10. Sunday will be school supply day at Thompson-Boling Arena, with fans who donate two new school supply items receiving one 300 level general admission ticket. All school supplies will be donated to the Knox County School Supply Depot.
ON THE FLY... UT picked up its first victory last season and Holly Warlick’s first career victory as head coach on Nov. 11, 2012, when the #20/16 Lady Vols upended #22/20 Georgia Tech in Atlanta, 71-54. Junior point guard Ariel Massengale is out of the blocks quickly this season, leading Tennessee in scoring (16.0), assists (5.7), steals (2.7) and minutes (31.3). Massengale has led UT in scoring the past two games and has posted the top threeconsecutive scoring games of her career with 12 (MT), 20 (UNC) and 16 (UTC). Her assists totals were five, seven and five. The Lady Vols are limiting opponents to 30% percent shooting from the floor in the first three games, an improvement over the 37.4% allowed during the same span a year ago despite playing collectively higherranked teams in 2013-14. Freshman Mercedes Russell is coming off a career-high scoring performance vs. UTC, dropping in 15 points, on seven-of-11 shooting, to go along with four rebounds and a block in 22 minutes. Tennessee’s talented depth is apparent, as the Lady Vols have won all three games despite returning SEC Co-Player of the Year Meighan Simmons and SEC Freshman of the Year Bashaara Graves not leading the team yet in scoring or rebounding, respectively. Cierra Burdick has been a magnet on the boards, leading Tennessee with totals of 11,
