GAME 28 SET-UP The #10/9 Lady Vols (22-5/11-3 SEC) play their final regular-season road game on Thursday night, as they face #RV/23 LSU (199/7-7 SEC) in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La. Tennessee and the Lady Tigers are slated to tip off at 8:05 p.m. CT/9:05 p.m. ET, and the game will be carried live on CSS. Matt Stewart and Steffi Sorensen will call the action, and the game also will be streamed live via ESPN3 (the game may be blacked out in some areas). This will mark the second meeting this season between these teams, as Nikki Caldwell’s (then) #16/16 club upset (then) #5/5 Tennessee in Knoxville on Jan. 2, 80-77. The Lady Vols will be trying to prevent the first-ever season home/away sweep by LSU and only the second such sweep by an SEC team over UT in school history. Georgia, on Dec. 9, 1984 & Feb. 2, 1985, owns the only home/away SEC season sweep over Tennessee. UT comes into the game having won two in a row and eight of its last nine games after holding off a feisty Missouri squad on Sunday, 56-50, in Columbia. Senior Meighan Simmons finished with 20 points in the victory, marking the seventh time in her last 10 games that she had put 20 on the board for the Big Orange. Redshirt freshman Andraya Carter played 38 minutes in that game, leading UT to its seventh win in eight games with her as point guard in place of the injured Ariel Massengale. Carter and Simmons were the only guards UT had available vs. Mizzou, with Ariel Massengale and Jordan Reynolds out due to injury and Jannah Tucker redshirting this season. LSU is in the midst of a rough patch, having lost four straight and five of its last six games. The Lady Tigers are coming off a 57-53 home setback to Arkansas on Sunday that dropped LSU to 7-7 in the league and into a tie for fifth in the standings. Tennessee is tied for second in the SEC with Texas A&M, but the Lady Vols have the tiebreaker edge over the Aggies by virtue of a 76-55 win in College Station on Jan. 26. The Lady Vols are wrapping up a fourgame run of games against feline mascots. UT has played Kentucky (Wildcats), Auburn (Tigers) and Missouri (Tigers) and visits LSU (Lady Tigers) next.
