GAME 33 SET-UP #10/9 Tennessee (25-7), the No. 2 seed in the Oklahoma City Region, will meet No. 10 seed Creighton (25-7) on Monday at 7:10 p.m. Eastern time in an NCAA Second Round game at Thompson-Boling Arena. The winner of that contest will advance to the Sweet 16 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City on March 31 and April 2. The Lady Vols moved on to the NCAA Second Round with an 83-62 victory over No. 15 seed Oral Roberts on Saturday, while Creighton sent No. 7 seed Syracuse home, 61-56. This will mark the first meeting in women's basketball between these schools, but UT is 6-0 vs. schools from the Missouri Valley Conference. The Big Orange last met an MVC squad in the 2007 NCAA First Round in Pittsburgh, as No. 3/4 UT defeated Drake, 76-37. Tennessee also is 2-0 vs. Illinois State, 2-0 vs. Southern Illinois and 1-0 vs. (Southwest) Missouri State from The Valley. Tennessee, recipient of an at-large bid, won the SEC regular season title with a 14-2 league record after being picked to finish fifth by the coaches and fourth by the media. Creighton tied for the Missouri Valley regular season title and received an at-large berth in the NCAA field with the secondmost wins in school history, marking the school’s fifth NCAA bid. CU, which announced on March 20 that it would be joining the BIG EAST, is 3-4 all-time in the NCAA tournament.
GET YOUR TICKETS NCAA Second Round tickets are available for purchase at UTTix.com or by calling the Tennessee Ticket Office at 865-656-1200 or 800-332-8657. UT’S NCAA TOURNEY HISTORY The only program to appear in all 32 NCAA tournaments, Tennessee has accumulated a 113-23 all-time record over the years. The Lady Vols rank first in NCAA tourney games played (136) and won (113). To put that NCAA record in perspective, the Big 12 entered with a 145-96 all-time mark in tourney play. The Big Ten was 147-127. UT is trying to advance to the Sweet 16 for the 31st time, where it owns a 25-5 record. UT has advanced to 18 NCAA Final Fours and won eight of them (1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008), ranking first in both categories.
